Diehm Chiropractic

Diehm Chiropractic With health care being as crazy as it has become today, let's talk about what it takes to be REALLY well, and maybe even enjoying the process.

Chiropractic practice was built on a foundation of getting people well that could not find healing anywhere else, and it's done very safely and non-invasively, without dangerous and expensive drugs and surgery. Though we're just over 120 years old , we are the largest natural healing profession in the country. Why? Because people are still getting well and staying that way. Gentle enough for a bab

There are many who are each day putting themselves in harm's way to help save life and to comfort those in heartache and distress. If you think of it today, offer a short prayer of encouragement and strength for those who have egregiously difficult decisions to make every hour of the day. It helps more than we can realize in common hours. God bless you today.

TAKE HEART!

Ok, so you've washed the skin off your hands, you've kept the world at arm's length, you're logging more living room time than the sofa and yet the news is starting to get you a bit rattled. Take heart: there is good news among the madness.

#1, Be vigilant and prudent, but not panicky. One of the best strategies for keeping well when everyone around you is getting sick, is creating an environment in your body that REFUSES to grow a Corona bug. How can you do that? It's not proverbial rocket-science, friends. So here's a quick review:

1). Eat well. Fresh foods. Keep sugars low; they mess with immunity. A big PLUS: Vitamin C in it's NATURAL, whole form. The mineral Zinc helps as well.

2). Get enough sleep. Immune systems are stronger with rest. Sleep deprivation is POISON.

3) Move. The benefits of exercise are ENORMOUS. One major benefit is taking in more oxygen, and Oxygen is the enemy of just about anything that wants to invade your body.

4) Think well. Stress and panic, forms of FEAR, trash immunity systems. Joy, laughter and positive thoughts do just the opposite. Limit news exposure to essential. Read or watch something uplifting or comical. Be confident you are going to stay well. Do something for someone else.

5) Care for your spine. 100 years ago the Spanish Flu decimated the world's population. Due to the increased immune response that it delivers, those under chiropractic care fared FAR better in mortality rate than the general population. For a relatively new profession at the time, this put chiropractic on the healthcare map. Healthy spine=healthy nerve system=healthy immunity.

God bless you this week. I pray you and your family enjoy VIBRANT health during this current challenge.

FEAR and Viruses.

Remember President Franklin Roosevelt’s words, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself!?” Well, you’re going to love what knowing this can do when it comes to fighting off diseases.

According to researchers, FEAR has a decided negative effect on our immune systems; and NOT in a good way. FEAR stresses out our adrenals, which messes with our sleep, fouls up our nervous systems, depletes valuable nutrients and ultimately trashes our immune systems, leaving us wide-open sitting ducks to infection.

So, the opposite would be, well, courage and a determination that there is no virus that would EVER take us down. If fear makes us sick, just think what the opposite would do.
And this is not just “wishful thinking:” the pages of current studies show that joy, courage, calmness and determination are powerful immune system boosters.

Yes, keep your hands clean, and don’t put yourself in harm’s way. But do the things that make your body very hostile to any microbe or virus that may try to take you down. If the soil’s bad for the seed, the seed won’t grow.

“Keep your head about you” this week. Remember the old adage: Worry is the misuse of the imagination.”

God bless,
Dr. Mike

How To Be SURE to Get a Case of Corona-Virus Infection:

Are you scared yet? Has all the hype caused you to order Costco-sized packs of facemasks and 50-gallon drums of hand sanitizer yet? Ok, let’s be honest: when a disease is labeled as a possible pandemic (world-wide plague proportions), it can get you a bit spooked. But as any honest doctor or scientist will tell you, preventing a disease is a whole lot better than having to treat it once it’s taken a toehold. So,what advice do we get on that front? Wash your hands. Cover your mouth when coughing. Pray for a magic vaccine that’s SURE to be free of side effects. This is what public health professionals have to say.

Great. So that’s it?! Then we just wait for the inevitable and hope for the best?

Have you ever noticed how some people never seem to get what’s going around? Hmmmm. They breathe the same air as those who are dropping like flies around them, drive the same roads, push the same shopping carts. What’s their edge?!

In a word, Resistance. We’ve got to put a bit less emphasis on the bug, and a WHOLE lot more attention on making our bodies a very nasty environment for “COVID-19” virus to move in, have babies and take over. So, what SHOULD we be doing, then? Well, let me put it this way: if I wanted to be sure of catching a bad case of “Corona-virus Flu,” here’s what I’d do:

1. Eat as much processed, non-fresh and sugar-heavy foods as possible. High-sugar intake is a GREAT immune suppressor, and fresh produce produces too much good energy.
2. Stay sedentary, get very little exercise and breathe as shallow as possible. Oxygen is, after all, the enemy of most disease-causing microbes.
3. I’d stay up late, even if I had to get up early the next day. I’d ignore the need for sleep with a good energy drink or espresso. Sleep, after all is one of the best immune-boosters know to man.
4. I’d fear getting sick, and focus my mind on bad news and keep my mind OFF every good thing I’ve been blessed with: family, home, car, food on the table and a good piece of chocolate every once in a while. Negative thoughts are amazing disease magnets, and fear is a wonderful immune-system weakener.
5. I’d neglect my spine. In the deadly Spanish flu epidemic of 1917-1918, the death rate for people under chiropractic care (when people utilized it for more than just backaches) was just .25%, when the average population with flu was suffering a whopping 5% demise. Chiropractic spinal care from the beginning has always been connected with enhanced immune response.

So, take heart. Start by doing the opposite of the above list, and the chance of your being a statistic are very much reduced. This stuff’s not smarter than you. God bless.

I have to thank one of my smallest (but most exuberant) patients for our new cover photo. Olivia gets a checkup about once a week (to accommodate her active lifestyle...) and brings joy wherever she goes. Part of OUR answer to health-care crisis? Start EARLY & teach the kids how to stay well. It sure is a lot more fun & saves a whole bunch of grief (and money...) later on. Thanks for allowing us the photo of your little angel, Heather & Matt. :)
