Do you have foot pain after being on your feet all day? Pain first thing in the morning when you get out of bed? You may have PLANTAR FASCIITIS.
Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia is a long, thin, ligament that connects your heel to your forefoot and supports your arch. When it becomes inflamed it can:
•cause pain in the heel/bottom of the foot
•pain with first few steps after getting out of bed
•pain after exercise
What causes it?
Plantar fasciitis is caused by strain on your feet. Possibly due to: tight calf muscles, high foot arch, repetitive activity, obesity, or new/increased activity.
The good news is that 90% of cases of plantar fasciitis can be treated conservatively with:
•rest/ice (try freezing a water bottle and roll this under your foot for 20 minutes)
•ibuprofen/Aleve type medications *discuss regular use of these medications with your medical provider
•calf/plantar fascia stretching
•stem cell injections
•if pain persists after over 1 year of trying conservative measures surgery may be considered.
•Don’t let your foot pain keep you from doing the things you love.
