Did you know this??

Of course vegetables are nutritious…

We want our kids to learn to like veggies…

BUT I also think there’s an unnecessary hyper-focus and pressure on this food group. 🤷‍♀️

Veggies are trickier for kids to learn to like…

➡️ Veggies can be bitter, and kids’ taste buds are more highly sensitive to these bitter flavors…

➡️ Veggies can be tough and hard for little mouths to eat…

➡️ Most veggies provide very few calories, which isn’t terribly motivating to kids. Kids eat to have energy to play. And they just don’t get that instant gratification from lettuce. 🤷‍♀️

You aren’t alone if your child doesn’t love veggies yet. 🥦

➡️ If your child loves fruits, breathe a sigh of relief because fruits and veggies offer the SAME nutrients.

➡️ If your child doesn’t like fruits OR veggies, that’s okay too. Grab a good kids multivitamin for reassurance while you keep serving those fruits and veggies.

Regardless, keep serving veggies, model eating and enjoying them, make them taste GOOD, and keep the pressure OFF.

…And if you need help getting your child to eat veggies (or other foods), you’d be perfect for my 4 month coaching program! Next available start date is May! Send me a message today to learn more!

🛑STOP the food burnout here! 👇🏻

If your child only eats a handful of foods, you likely (understandably) serve them alllll the time.

BUT when your child has these foods over and over and over…. They can get sick of them and drop them out of their rotation…

This causes their list of preferred foods to dwindle over time 😩

The good news: you can reverse this! 🥳 Here’s how 👇🏻

1. Make a list of ALL the foods your child eats. Be as specific as possible and include all the different flavors, brands, and varieties of each food

2. Create a rotating menu and try not to repeat the same exact food 2 days in a row. If you don’t have enough foods on their list to do this, you can instead serve the food at a different meal or even cut it differently so it’s not EXACTLY the same.

3. Start making teeny tiny changes to their preferred foods. This can prevent your child from getting bored with their foods. It also helps to create flexibility and confidence in their eating so that they can branch out to new foods too.

4. Serve new and non-preferred foods daily! If you don’t serve it, they’ll never eat it!

As your child builds back up their preferred foods list, make sure to keep ALL of those foods in a good rotation to prevent burnout in the future!

Questions? Thoughts? Tell me below! 👇🏻

PS if your child’s food list keeps dwindling and you’re ready for support to reverse it, I’d love to support you in my 4-month coaching program. Message me or comment “program” below and I’ll send you more details. 😊

3 things I do EVERY TIME I serve a meal my kids don’t love. ⬇️

1️⃣ prepare myself for the pushback.

She’s not a fan of this meal, so I thought ahead about how I’d respond if she protested. That way, I wasn’t scrambling to figure out what to say in the heat of the moment or letting my own frustration take over.

2️⃣ I gave her some control.

I let her pick out a fruit to have with dinner so she got a say in what else was on her plate.

3️⃣ I held the boundary while giving her options.

She chose to add ranch to her burger and then ate more than half of it. 🙌

So while we can’t guarantee our kids will eat a food just because we handle the meal a certain way…

We CAN control how we respond, give them some control, and make it easier for them to navigate a meal they’re not excited about. ❤️

Stop trying to SELL the food! 🫣

➡️ “Mmmmm this SO good”

➡️ “Wow… delicious… you don’t know what you’re missing!”

➡️ “You would love it if you just tried it!!”

Your kid is onto you and they’re NOT buying what you’re selling 🤣

Instead, give your child a little info about what the food is like! And if you can, point out characteristics that are similar to foods they already like! 👇🏻

➡️ “These are raisins. They’re sweet and chewy, just like your gummies”

➡️ “Here’s your grilled chicken. This what the inside of your nuggets are made from”

➡️ “I put a piece of broccoli on your plate… it has butter and Parmesan on it like you eat on your pasta!

This approach is less pressure, it helps your child learn about the food, AND it helps them focus on positives/familiarity of new foods instead of fixating on how different they are.

And it absolutely increases their acceptance of new foods! 🥳🥳🥳

Will you try this? Let me know! 👇🏻

P.S. This is just one of the creative feeding strategies that you’ll learn and apply in my 4 month program, the KIND Feeding Academy. DM me to get started!

A dietitian who lets her kids eat sweets?! 😳😲

You bet I do! 🙌🏻 … here’s why👇🏻

✨I want my girls to experience life and enjoy food WITHOUT any shame or guilt.✨

I allow my kids to have sweets consistently enough AND sometimes in large enough quantities that they don’t become obsessed. To them, sweets are no big deal 🤷‍♀️

I’m NOT saying I allow my kids free reign to these foods. I choose when they are available. Some days it’s a “yes,” other days it’s a “it’s not on the menu today”…. And they’re cool with that!

I struggled with disordered eating as a teen and had a horrible relationship with food for a loooong time (anyone else struggle with this 🙋‍♀️). I know that giving my girls a positive relationship with food and their body is the best thing I can do for them 🩷

My kids know what different foods do for our bodies, and they know which foods we choose more often.

AND they also know that ALL foods can be enjoyed without feeling bad about it.

And that’s exactly what I want for them. 🩷

Tell me what you think! 👇🏻

Freedom!!! 🥳

That’s what it feels like for SO many of my clients!! 🙌

Have you spent YEARS packing a lunchbox full of your child’s foods anytime you leave home? 😵‍💫

Do situations like parties, restaurants, and vacations feel impossible and stressful with your picky eater? 😩

My clients felt the EXACT same way….

….But not anymore!! 🙌🏻

They now have the freedom to life their lives without being held back by food.

You deserve that too! 🩷🩷

Share ONE food you don’t like one way, but you like it a different way. 👇

I bet you can think of PLENTY!

So if you keep serving a food and your child still doesn’t like it (or won’t try it)… ⬇️

✨changing something about it!✨

You can even ask your child, “What would make it better?”

They might be able to tell you what they don’t like about the food, and it might have an easy fix!

Maybe it’s the texture, the temperature, the way it looks, or what you’re serving it with.

Don’t give up on a food just because one version didn’t work. ❤️

Because there are infinite ways we can change it and you never know which version might click for your child! ❤️
