Developmental & Behavioral Health Pediatrician
If you wake up everyday feeling rushed & unable to celebrate your wins I’m going to make some suggestions for you in this post.
Few months ago right before the quarantine hit, my weekly routine became a blur.
I was unable to steer my days in the direction I wanted it to go.
My days and my schedule were overtaking my daily and weekly goals, which took a toll on me emotionally.
Take note - Emotional decisions lead to un-calculated results.
Since the quarantine has hit, its slowed down the world.
It’s slowed down time.
Since the quarantine I’ve noticed I’m at my most productive self once I awake early in the morning.
I Knock out tasks:
Reflect. & Be thankful for everything, especially the ability to have clarity in that moment.
The ability to figure out your daily process/routine and make commitments to yourself is what makes me feel.
I’m at my most productive self.
What makes you feel like your most productive self?
. . . . . .

repost via @instarepost20 from @inhale_confidence I used to pride myself in having a strong immune system. I hardly ever caught a cold, flu or had any reason to visit the DR. That all changed about 5 years ago when my anxiety came back from the dead. Anxiety and panic attacks were happening more frequently and the stresses of life got to be too much. Stress and anxiety took a toll on my immune system. Almost immediately, I developed allergies, gastrointestinal issues, hair loss, chronic tension headaches, acne, and became more prone to colds and the flu. Blood work also showed that I was now susceptible to autoimmune disorders. Stress and anxiety can wreak havoc on your physical body. When a high amount of cortisol is released in your body, it suppresses the immune system and lowers your ability to fight off illness. So, learn to manage your stress, before it manages you. It’s all about keeping it in check. Take it from someone who has had to learn this the hard way.

Child & Family Development
Guiding Parents to Services (GPS) works with families whose child has recently been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or exhibits “red flag” behaviors of ASD. This program, offered at no cost to families with children aged birth to 5, helps refer and connect families with federal, state, and local resources that support the needs of the child as well as caregivers. Information is shared through a home visiting program, as well as monthly workshops offered at locations throughout Mecklenburg County. #earlyintervention #autism #autismspectrumdisorder

Dr. Barbara Kissam is a board certified developmental and behavioral pediatrician who is trained to evaluate, counsel, and provide treatment for children adolescents and their families with a wide range of challenges including learning disorders, attention and behavioral disorders, regulatory disorders, developmental disabilities, and behavioral and mental health challenges. She has been practicing for more than 15 years and understands that children’s development and behavior happens first and fore most in the context of the family. Her belief is that everyone has strengths and struggles ( children and adults) and works to problem solve solutions for the challenges they are facing at home and school. Her passion stems from being both a physician and a mother of three children who have varied diagnoses such as Asperger’s, ADHD, sensory integration difficulties, dyslexia, developmental delays from being a NICU grad, and anxiety.. She has spent the majority of her personal and professional career advocating and caring for children with similar issues. She has served on various boards such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, Society for Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, Easter Seals Society, Special Olympics, Sensory Solutions and Head Start. Dr. Kissam recognizes the journey most families are on in dealing with children with developmental and behavioral challenges and the struggles along the way in seeking comprehensive care and services their children need to reach their full potential. Dr. Kissam returns to North Carolina where she was born to be closer to family and bring her expertise and passion to families in Charlotte and surrounding areas.
