COLD & FLU SEASON SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR PARENTS
Let's talk about something every parent is about to deal with β if they aren't already.
The sniffles are here. The coughs have arrived. And your child's classroom? Full petri dish energy. Welcome to October.
I know how overwhelming it can feel when your child wakes up sick and you're not sure what to do. So here's the honest, practical guide I give my own Zest families β straight from me to you:
Fever under 102Β°F for a day or two in a child over 12 months with no other alarming symptoms? Take a breath. Rest, fluids, and comfort measures go a long way. You don't need to rush anywhere.
Runny nose + mild cough + normal energy? Most likely a common cold. Keep them home, keep them hydrated, keep them comfortable. Most resolve in 7β10 days.
Trouble breathing, real lethargy, worsening ear pain, spreading rash - especially if it has little blisters? Call today
High fever lasting more than 3β4 days and symptoms that seem to be getting worse and not better? That's when you reach out. Don't wait on those.
Child under 3 months with any fever? Contact us right away β no waiting on that one, ever.
Here's what I want every family β whether you're part of Zest or not β to understand: you should never have to Google symptoms alone at midnight and hope for the best. That moment of uncertainty at 10 PM deserves a real answer from someone who actually knows your child.
That's exactly what Zest families have. And if you're not one yet β it's worth knowing that kind of access exists.
Sick kid this fall? Skip the urgent care waiting room. Text your Zest doctor first β we'll figure it out together.
