Come closer you're going to want to hold my hand for this one.

When my mom got sick, I was sure it was just her asthma or COPD acting up again. I was also sure they'd be able to help her get better, like they always did, but then I found out about other conditions my mother had never discussed.

My mom regularly went to the doctor, but she only focused on what I'm going to call her primary conditions. The ones that gave her the most noticeable daily problems. Unfortunately, that made her ignore other conditions that needed just as much tending to as her respiratory ones.

We can't make you go to the doctor, but we also can't make you tell your doctor all your symptoms and everything that's going wrong. We'll be the ones making the decisions when it all hits the fan, and a lack of knowledge doesn't make an already impossible decision any easier.

The Truth Has A Seat Here. It's Time To Sit With It.

We All End Up At This Table.

Having a funeral plan but not a health plan is kinda wild. Both are expensive, and yet you as the individual only get to actively participate in one. You might not be able to go to your funeral, but you do have a lot more say in it than you think.

It sounds scary when you first think about it. You wanna know what's scarier, though? The people that love you having to do whatever is best for THEM with YOUR body because you didn't leave proper instructions behind.

Dying actually becomes a lot less stressful when you decide to take control of the things that you can before that point. Planning a funeral with no life insurance and no plan to ever try to get one is selfish in this economy. We all know we're going to die, like I said, plan the funerals. Have the hard conversation and stop leaving your family ass out in grief.

You ever open the fridge, stare into it, close it, open it again 20 minutes later like something new grew in there? 😭 That's not even a real craving lol. My mom used to always say how she wanted a snack but could never name what. So she'd just eat a little of everything until she satisfied her actual craving. 😂

Real talk, "I don't know what I want" is usually one of three things:

✨You didn't actually eat enough earlier and now your body's just saying MORE with no actual details.

✨You're thirsty and genuinely can't tell the difference, cause hunger and thirst can feel exactly the same.

✨Or your last plate was missing something, no protein, no crunch, no nothing, gone in four minutes standing up or on the go.

What craving got you in a chokehold?? Drop it, I'll build the mix!

Taking care of yourself shouldn't feel like restriction or torture. You don't have to take care of yourself, you get to.

You get to choose what healthy looks like for you. You get to eat better, feel better, move more. You get to improve your overall quality of life, not just the parts where you're escaping how hard things are. You get to treat yourself with the love you deserve.

Sometimes the thing you're craving isn't even food. You want something cold and fizzy, that's a feeling.

But you don't have to talk yourself out of it. Just make it nice, make it a lil moment for yourself.

I hear people say they want to be healthier so they can live longer for their kids and grandchildren. These same people also proceed to do the things they know are slowly lowering their quality of life every day to satisfy or even worse, numb temporary feelings.

They're watching the plate. They're learning what a grown person does with stress, with rest, with their own body, by watching you do it first.

We complain so much about the lack of role models these days but when are we going to choose to be the role models we're looking to save OUR legacy?

What you eat can cause you way more stress, that's proven science. So if you're constantly feeling drained or like crap, let's start by looking at what you're eating.

They're trying to do away with terms like "junk food" and "bad food." But respectfully, I disagree. Processed meat as a Group 1 carcinogen. That means there's sufficient evidence that eating processed meat causes colorectal cancer. We're talking bacon, hot dogs, sausage, deli meat, anything salted, cured, or smoked.

Every 50 grams a day, about one hot dog, raises your risk by 18%. So yeah. It's junk. Separating our language into good food and bad food is necessary, and I disagree with anybody who says it's not. Cancer and chronic conditions are on the rise. So let's talk about the cause, and it starts with what you're constantly putting in your body.

Healthy eating doesn't have to be rocket science. Starting where you are is the best place to start. Removing everything from your diet at once is never a suggestion I'll make, that's not the Trail Mix Method and it's not sustainable. But I know it's possible to get you to a place where you're actually craving the foods your body loves, the foods that nourish you instead of draining you.

So this week, before you reach for the thing that leaves you feeling worse, pause and pick one meal to build with intention. Just one.

You're Gonna Want To Sit Down For This.

My grandma's turning 94 next week. She's gotten to see generations of her family grow up. It's been truly a blessing. Especially after losing my mom at just 67 years young.

I've seen firsthand what it looks like when someone truly prioritizes their health versus when someone prioritizes everything else instead.

Quality over quantity? How about both.

You don't need to deprive yourself of the foods you love just for the sake of claiming to be perfect. Prioritizing health doesn't have to mean ignoring quality of life. We can have both, it's literally why the word moderation exists.

Humans create new words every year, God forbid we create new ways to nourish ourselves that won't make us miserable and could actually benefit us long term instead of temporarily.

In my opinion, rich and creamy are a life necessity. A luxury that no one should be denied and the answer is not cauliflower. Cauliflower has done many things but it has never once been cream, let's be so fr.

So let's make a little personal no bake cheesecake!
8 oz of cream cheese, softened
A spoon of Greek yogurt
A little bit of maple syrup
A splash of vanilla
Mix it together and put over 1-2 crushed graham crackers*, set for 20 minutes in the freezer or don't lol. Top with favorite topping, lemon zest to finish if you're feeling fancy.

Enjoy it because moderation over restriction and you deserve to be fed.

What craving got you in a chokehold?? Drop it, I'll build the mix!

*Use granola instead of graham crackers for a bigger crunch 😋
