Brought in my 34th birthday with watching the sunrise.

August 10th... my day... the day I was brought into this world.

Last year, for my 33rd, I watched the sunrise and swam so far into the ocean, it was incredible. A storm was coming in and the waves were huge and I was reckless and remember thinking, "i might not make it out of this water and it would be one heck of a way to be taken out by the universe". And somehow, the waves spit me out and there were dolphins about 20 feet in front of me.... and I was just in awe.... of surviving and popping up to a beautiful sunrise and dolphins. Like the universe was telling me that I'd be okay!

And so far, things have been okay. Life has been ROUGH the last 6 months.. financially, I'm drowning.. but otherwise, it's been great. My mentality is stronger and more balanced. Last year taught me that.

So yeah, this year for my 34th, I went back to the same spot... with my son and my husband (we went through a separation last year).... and it was such a beautiful time. Instead of being reckless, my son and I were actually able to be in the water with dolphins coming right in front of us. With the sunrise... almost a repeat of last year, but this time it was a reminder that it's going to be okay and that things are meant to be beautiful even when stressful... not scary or life threatening.

I'm a healer of people. A helper of minds. Of confidence. Of boundaries.

But I struggle with giving myself the same grace I give others. And this year, that is going to change. I am capable of so much in life. I have lived so much in this life... I feel, know, understand things more than some realize.

And I need to harness that energy and not just survive.... but THRIVE.

Good morning, beautiful souls. 🌙☀️

Leo season has a way of shining a light on the parts of us we’ve been trying to hide. It asks us to be brave enough to take up space, speak our truth, and stop apologizing for who we are.

With the Last Quarter Moon, this is a beautiful time to let go. Not because you’ve failed, but because you’ve outgrown what you’ve been carrying. Old stories. Self-doubt. Guilt. The need to prove yourself. The version of you that survived doesn’t have to be the version that leads your future.

You don’t have to have everything figured out. Growth isn’t always loud. Sometimes it looks like choosing peace over chaos. Rest over burnout. Boundaries over people-pleasing. Yourself over the expectations of everyone else.

As we get closer to next week’s New Moon, pay attention to what keeps calling your heart. The dreams that won’t leave you alone usually aren’t there by accident.

What’s one thing you’re ready to release… and one thing you’re ready to welcome into your life?

I’d love to hear your thoughts below. And if you’d rather keep it private, my inbox is always open. Your story is safe here.

If you’re looking for a place where you can be yourself, I’d love for you to follow Twisted in the Roots. Stick around, join the conversations, and help us grow a community where healing, honesty, and real life matter more than perfection.

I don’t want this to be another page you scroll past.

I want it to be somewhere you can take a breath.

A place for the people who have been through hard things.
The ones still healing.
The ones learning how to set boundaries, break cycles, laugh again, and become who they were always meant to be.

One thing I hope makes this community different is this:

If you have a story you’re not ready to share publicly, send me a private message. With your permission, I can anonymously share your story on the page so this community can offer support, encouragement, perspective, or simply remind you that you’re not alone. Sometimes hearing from people who’ve walked a similar road can make all the difference.

You don’t have to carry everything by yourself.

Comment when something speaks to you. Encourage someone who needs it. Share your experiences. Ask questions. Let’s build something real together.

We’re all a little twisted in the roots, and that’s exactly why we can help each other grow. ✨🧡

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how our roots shape us.

Not just our childhoods. Not just trauma. But the tiny moments that taught us what love looked like, whether our feelings were welcome, whether we had to earn acceptance, whether it was safer to stay quiet than to speak up.

Sometimes I catch myself reacting to something, and I have to stop and ask…

“Is this who I am, or is this who I had to become?”

That question has changed my life.

There are parts of me I’m incredibly proud of. My empathy. My ability to sit with someone in their pain without trying to fix them. My resilience.

But there are other parts that were built for survival, not peace. People pleasing. Overthinking. Feeling responsible for everyone else’s emotions. Believing I had to carry more than my share because that’s what I learned.

Healing hasn’t been about becoming someone new.

It’s been about figuring out which parts of me deserve to stay… and which parts can finally rest.

That’s really what Twisted in the Roots is about.

Not pretending we’ve got it all together.

Just being willing to look at where our roots began, understand why we grew the way we did, and realize that even twisted roots can grow into something beautiful.

I’d love to know…

You can only leave ONE sentence of advice.

What’s the best life lesson you’ve learned the hard way?

I’ll start

“Not everyone who loves you knows how to love you well.”

"Let me be honest.
Forgiveness didn't come easy for me.
Not because I'm cold. Not because I wanted revenge.
But because I didn't feel like people deserved it.
How do you forgive someone who never said sorry?
How do you release pain that no one ever took responsibility for?
How do you stop being angry when the damage still echoes inside you?
And how--how--do you forgive yourself for the things you did while you were in survival mode?
Shame held me hostage for years.
Shame for the people I hurt.
Shame for the times I lied, manipulated, pushed people away, broke things that mattered.
Shame for the times I wasn't the friend I wanted to be.
Shame for the moments I spiraled--manic, impulsive, unreachable--and burned bridges I swore I'd
never touch.
I've gone manic. I've hurt people.
I've let people down.
And the part that broke me most?
I knew better... but I still did it.
And that's the voice shame loves to use:
"You should've known better. You don't deserve grace. You did this."
So I carried that.
I punished myself long after others had moved on.
I stayed in toxic cycles because I thought I deserved pain.
I replayed mistakes like a broken record, hoping guilt could undo what had already happened.
But healing asked something different of me.
Healing asked me to sit with that guilt and say:
"You were doing the best you could with what you had."
"You didn't know how to cope, how to set boundaries, how to breathe through the pain instead of
running from it."
"You're allowed to grow. You're allowed to change. You're allowed to move forward."
I had to learn that accountability is not the same as self-hatred.
Yes--I own what I did.
Yes--I take responsibility.
But I refuse to keep dragging the co**se of who I used to be through every new chapter of my life.
I am not that girl anymore.
And I owe her more than punishment.
I owe her compassion."

-I Grew From Twisted Roots (Chapter 8 : The Grace To Let Go)

A little sneak peek of Chapter 2 from the workbook I’ve been writing. 🤍

This chapter is incredibly personal because it’s built from the lessons I’ve had to learn the hard way. Every challenge, every setback, every time I had to start over taught me something I now carry into the way I coach others.

I’m not here because I’ve lived a perfect life. I’m here because I know what it’s like to keep going when life feels heavy, and I know how powerful it is to have someone in your corner reminding you that you’re capable of healing and growing.

If this speaks to you, I’d love for you to stick around. My goal is to create a space where people feel seen, supported, and reminded that they are never alone in what they’re facing.

Tell me in the comments…

What’s one lesson life has taught you that you’ll never forget? ✨

Can I ask you something?

When was the last time you chose yourself without feeling guilty?

Not because you were exhausted.
Not because you had nothing left to give.
But because you knew you deserved the same love, patience, and kindness that you give everyone else.

So many of us pour from an empty cup until we don’t even recognize ourselves anymore.

I’ve been there.

Healing didn’t happen overnight for me, and it still doesn’t. It’s a choice I make every day. That’s why I created Twisted in the Roots—to remind people that growth isn’t about having a perfect life. It’s about learning to keep growing through imperfect seasons.

💚 Tell me in the comments:
What’s one thing you’ve outgrown this year?
A habit? A relationship? Fear? People-pleasing? Self-doubt?

Or, if you’re still working through it, what’s one thing you’re ready to leave behind?

Let’s encourage each other. You never know who needs to read your answer today. 🌿
