Phew. What a summer it has been! I had the pleasure of joining some amazing herbalists at the American Herbalist Guild symposium last weekend in Black Mountain, NC. It was amazing and rich with information!! I had the chance to reconnect with previous teachers and establish new relationships with others. It has been almost 6 years since my last herbal gathering attendance. (Too long!) This was a special opportunity and I am grateful for the experience and sharing this weekend with one of my herbal besties, Era Pope!! Era is a TCM practitioner and acupuncturist. It was great to talk with her about modalities and constitutions while diving and walking around the campus. And just geeking out all things plants and herbs. It was also reassuring to confirm that I am on the right path. Most of you probably don’t know but I am currently in the process of becoming a Clinical herbalist along with collecting my clinical hours for IBCLC!!
I came back last weekend with a brain stuffed full of ideas and information that I hope to share with my community. My brain is still processing it all… LOL.
When you hire Sadie and I as your support team, you’re getting a lot more than pre-natal, birth, and postpartum support. We bring all of our skills to the table. I am alway excited to share my passion of herbal knowledge and breastfeeding to the families we support! ❤️
Peace ~ Love ~ Flowers 🌼🌷🌻🌸🌺🌹🥀💐🫖

P.S.
I saw my first mama bear with her babies in the wild. Lots of beautiful nooks that I wanted so badly to explore.
I didn’t get many pics of myself but I’m very grateful Era snapped this one of the two of us!

Summer Updates - pt 2. The Ka of SAKA here! 👋🏻 The family and I have been spending a lot of time at our farm, splashing in the pool and playing with the farm cats. Favorite his and her’s mugs. Herbal studies.🤓 Enjoying a lot of live music with the husband. Eating lots of fresh summer tomatoes. And I lobbed off my hair, 😳about 16 inches. Love you guys! 🐿️🌷🦋🫖 Talk soon. -Kala

Hello!! Sorry we’ve been MIA. Sadie and I have been enjoying the warm summer days while enjoying the kiddos during their summer break. Here are a few snapshots of Sadie’s summer adventures, soaking up some sun rays on the beach, checking out art, and watching young minds discover new things. We are tuning back in as summer break comes to an end and the kids return to school. We are excited to welcome and support new families this fall to our schedule. More updates to come!! 🤓🫖🌷-Kala

Hi, I’m Kala!
I feel blessed to call myself a wife, mother, plant friend, and birth doula. It is my nature to nurture. As a child I was homeschooled and spent a lot of my time frolicking in the woods, connecting with the flora and fauna in Winnsboro, SC. From here we relocated to Greensboro, NC where I attended public school and graduated high school. It was in my senior year of high school when my mother handed me my first herbal book that my heart would follow a calling the child inside of me began years ago. This would evolve into a never ending need to learn more. Fast forward a few years and I find myself in the heart of Columbia, SC and where I met my husband and best friend. We have two beautiful children and a gaggle of animals, along with 100s of plant babies and allies growing on our farm. We own and operate a local family farm, supplying the best greens you’ve ever put in your mouth! Most of our greens can be found at many local restaurants and local markets in Columbia.

Over the years I have had the opportunity to learn many skills and connect with amazing people. I have attended herbal school, several herbal conferences, worked 10 years at a health food store, studied nursing, received my DONA doula certification, and currently working towards lactation certification.
Serving families alongside Sadie has been a dream, and I hold gratitude for our relationship together. Thank you for learning more about me and what Sadie and I can offer you during your journey into parenthood.

Howdy, I’m Sadie! Among many things, I am a mom, photographer, and birth doula. My roots are in Kansas, where I was born and raised among wheat fields and open skies. After many adventures I now call Columbia home. I live in Rosewood with my husband and three sons - plus a gaggle of hens to balance things out. We are a family of artists dedicated to building community and loving others.

Over the past 11 years as a doula, I have learned about the incredible strength of women, the importance of supporting couples during the transition into parenthood, and how every birth and baby has their own journey. I began training after the birth of my oldest in 2012. Looking back on the memories of my own twisty-turny labor, I realized my birth team was a pivotal reason my baby and I had positive outcomes. I was eager to learn and pay it forward. I have experience and training to support folks at home or hospital, VBACs, cesareans, infant loss/bereavement, facilitating birth art, and prenatal education (I teach alongside and . One of my many creative outlets is photography, a lot of the photos you’ll see on our page will be from my lens — I especially love capturing tender moments during the births I attend and of course sweet squishy ones during postpartum visits.

My greatest passions are the relationships I create, particularly with clients that I support during one of life’s most beautiful transitions.
