This week, Cookeville Medical Clinic RHC celebrates 25 years! That’s 25 years of partnering with your family and our community to keep you healthy. In the last two years during the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to help the community to be able to offer drive-thru testing, vaccines, and telemedicine visits 7 days a week.

Thank you for all your support over the past 25 incredible years and for every moment in the future. As the largest independent private medical organization in the region, we are excited to celebrate our commitment to health and wellness for the community we serve.

“Telehealth can be scary and uncomfortable at first! Trust us, we were all feeling it. The awkwardness of talking through a screen, worries of connection issues both emotionally and technologically. We get it! But after 2 weeks of telehealth services, we have seen the light and promise, there is nothing to be afraid of! ⁣
⁣
Telehealth comes with its own set of advantages that in person sessions do not and cannot have! You are in a comfortable to you environment, you can have more comfort items with you, pets are always allowed, and there is an ease to the physical separation that actually can lead to more vulnerability. Who would have thought? ⁣
⁣
We are really loving utilizing sessions in this way and have put together some tips for you guys to help make your telehealth sessions as productive and positive as possible! ⁣
⁣
1) Be in a comfortable and private space. Don’t hesitate to think outside of the box- your car? A bedroom? A porch? Your yard? The couch? What works for you is great!⁣
2) Have a blanket and pillow with you. Light a candle, grab some essential oils! Make the space yours.⁣
3) Check into your virtual space 5 minutes before your appointment. Let your counselor know if you’re having connectivity issues! ⁣
4) Headphones are so helpful, grab a comfortable pair⁣
5) Have your credit or debit card with you before session for ease of copayments ⁣
6) Don’t be afraid to set boundaries with your therapist! Would you rather do phone than video sessions? Are there certain topics that need to be off limits at this time? ⁣
7) Know what you need from your session today, what do you want and need to focus on? ⁣
😎 Let your pets join in, we love seeing them as much as they love being petted ⁣
9) Don’t worry about dressing up, pajamas/ leggings/ comfortable clothing is perfectly acceptable and encouraged⁣
10) Be open to something new! After a few minutes, the awkwardness will fade and it will begin to feel as normal as in person sessions! ⁣

Cookeville Medical Clinic will stay open with normal business hours to take care of our patients. Each passing day brings new challenges as they relate to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). At Cookeville Medical Clinic, your health and safety are our top priorities.

We are instructing patients NOT TO ENTER the clinic if they are experiencing the symptoms related to COVID-19 (Fever, Cough, Difficulty Breathing) and, instead, to remain in their car and call the clinic for screening. We have a COVID-19 hotline at 931-854-9107. At this time, we DO have the required equipment and testing materials if you qualify.

TELEVISITS AVAILABLE: We are now also starting Televisits during this time so you can stay at home and still be seen by your provider for established patients only.

Here are the other specific steps we’re following to ensure the health of our patients:

- Additional Staff Training and In-service.
- Exam rooms will continue to be disinfected/sterilized between patients. Additionally, we have started disinfecting shared surfaces such as doorknobs and counters more frequently.
- Have started fogging the waiting rooms to kills all germs.
- Each patient will be asked to wash their hands to uphold standard community precaution.
- We request each patient go to their floor where their provider is located so we can separate out sick patients from healthy patients.
- We have implemented special protocols to be able separate out the patients that might have COVID-19 and to be able to test them away from our healthy patients.
-Limit the number of people you bring to your appointment.
- If you have any protective gear, we ask that you please wear it.

To our patients:

- Take normal, healthy precautions that you would during flu season. The CDC recommends frequent hand washing and the use of hand sanitizers, avoid touching your (eyes, nose, and mouth), practice social distancing, and cover you cough or sneeze with a tissue.
- If you’re experiencing anxiety around the situation we encourage you to indulge in this link from the CDC about “how it spreads”.
