Qualifications
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee
• Practical experience in the field of intellectual disabilities or geriatrics
• Computer literate
• Supervisory experience
• Flexible, team player, self motivator
• Confidentiality a must

Primary Responsibilities
The primary role of the Health Services Manager (HSM) is HSM to supervise Licensed Practical Nurses who provide skilled nursing tasks in the Medical Residential Program and to train new employees in Medication Administration. The HSM may participate in the development of policies related to health concerns of the individuals served. In addition, the HSM will act as a consultant to agency Executive Staff, Event Management Coordinator (EMC), Health Service Coordinators (HSC), County Directors (CD), Residential/Training Supervisors (RS/TS) and other staff ensuring DIDD and Agency health and safety protocol is followed.

Additional Responsibilities
 Support HSC and CD to identify health components of the Individual Support Plan (ISP) and/or the Person Centered Support Plan (PCSP) and participate in person centered planning meetings, as needed.
 Supervise LPNs providing skilled nursing services under Professional Support Services license
 Monitor medical records
 Assist staff in accessing community health resources
 Serve as a health consultant to individuals supported and their families
 Coordinate and evaluate health screenings on a regular basis of the individuals served
 Consult with health care providers as necessary to ensure proper service delivery
 Available for consultation regarding psychotropic medications
 Conduct and/or develop in-service training for staff in the areas that include, but are not limited to, infection control, signs and symptoms of disease, seizure disorders, and emergency care
 Teach health education and promote wellness activities for individuals served
 Successfully complete DIDD’s Medication Administration Train the Trainer
 Provide nurse delegation training and certification for some skills such as; oxygen administration, CPAP use, finger sticks, etc.)
 Utilize physical and nutritional management techniques and assist in monitoring staff use of techniques
 Design and implement training programs when individual needs are identified
 Assist staff in providing health education to families when individual needs are identified
 Promote and implement the standards of intellectual disabilities nursing practices
 Monitor use and accountability for any narcotics or controlled substances prescribed by a physician for individuals supported
 Assist Agency personnel in following Licensure and quality enhancement guidelines regarding health-related matters
 Provide regular assessments of the health care needs of the individuals served
 Monitor the medical histories of individuals served
 Review, on a regular basis, the status of individuals who are infectious disease carriers and make recommendations to staff on a case-by-case basis
 Establish effective working relationships with staff, parents/relatives, health providers, and staff of other agencies and businesses
 Demonstrate a willingness to listen and act on concerns presented by staff or individuals served and available for consultation regarding problems or concerns

Its a shame that us with mental illness is no longer considered disabled under the program almost as if we are only sick in our mind...very unfair
Sad that people with mental disability is no longer considered for help almost as if we aren't really disabled so the stigma about mental illnesses is confirmed by saying we aren't disabled
