TennCare transportation resources for therapy families

If transportation or the cost of driving is making it difficult to get your child to therapy, you may be able to use one of these benefits:

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) may provide a free ride to and from covered appointments for eligible members who do not have access to transportation.

Mileage Reimbursement (MRP) may help eligible families who use their own vehicle or another eligible driver for approved trips. Tennessee Carriers lists reimbursement of up to $0.725 per mile.

Call the transportation number for your child’s health plan:

BlueCare: 1-855-735-4660
TennCare Select: 1-866-473-7565
UnitedHealthcare Community Plan: 1-866-405-0238
Wellpoint: 1-866-680-0633

Request a ride at least two business days before the appointment. If you want mileage reimbursement through Tennessee Carriers, the trip must be scheduled and approved before the appointment day. If your child attends therapy regularly, ask about arranging upcoming trips in advance.

For a several-hour therapy session, explain your full drop-off and pickup plan. If you need transportation home after dropping off your child and back to the clinic for pickup, ask whether those parent-only trips can be approved. They are not automatically covered. You can also ask whether hand-to-hand transportation is appropriate for your child.

For mileage reimbursement, keep your booking information and complete the trip log. Required signatures and driver documents must be submitted with the claim within 120 days of the trip. A Lyft or Uber ride that you book yourself is not reimbursed through MRP; rideshare transportation must be arranged by the transportation broker.

If transportation is affecting your child’s therapy attendance, we encourage you to call your child’s plan and ask which option may work for your family.

Eligibility, trip approval, and reimbursement are determined by TennCare and its transportation partners, not Dimensional Behavior Interventions.

🍂 Fall Dress Week starts Monday!

We know the calendar says fall, but Memphis weather may still feel like summer! Please dress for the theme while keeping everyone cool, comfortable, and session-ready.

Monday | Cozy Fall Day
Fall-colored T-shirts, lightweight flannels, short-sleeve plaid, jeans, or autumn graphic tees.

Tuesday | Fall Sports Day
Favorite team T-shirt or jersey, athletic wear, team colors, or sports-themed outfits.

Wednesday | Western Wednesday
Denim, lightweight plaid, cowboy hats, bandanas, boots, or western graphic tees.

Thursday | Autumn Character Day
Scarecrows, pumpkins, woodland animals, fall-themed characters, or simple character shirts/accessories. Lightweight costumes are perfect!

Friday | Pajama Day
Lightweight PJs, pajama shorts/sets, or comfy character pajamas.

Most importantly, choose outfits that are safe, comfortable, and easy to move in during sessions.

We can’t wait to see everyone participate! 🍁

Sometimes progress is quiet. 💜
It doesn’t always come with a huge breakthrough or an obvious “WOW!” moment.

Sometimes progress looks like waiting 30 seconds longer, asking instead of grabbing, walking to the bathroom without a prompt, accepting “not right now,” completing one more step independently, or using a coping skill when things get hard.

These moments may look small, but they’re building something much bigger: communication, independence, flexibility, confidence, and skills for everyday life. 🧩

At Dimensional, we celebrate the quiet progress too—because today’s small win can become tomorrow’s independence.

✨ Tiny steps today. Stronger skills tomorrow.

Learning a skill in therapy is just the beginning. 💜
The real goal is being able to use that skill in everyday life!

In ABA, we call this generalization. 🧩
A child may learn to:

🏠 Follow a routine at home
🏫 Follow directions at school
🗣️ Communicate with different people
🛝 Interact with peers at the park
🛒 Practice independence in the community
🔄 Use the same skills even when the environment changes
Because progress shouldn’t only happen inside the therapy room.

We want the skills children learn to travel with them—across people, places, situations, and everyday experiences. 🌎✨

Learn it. Use it. Live it.
That’s the power of ABA. 💛
