Today is World Blind Day, and we didn't want it to pass without saying something.

Vision affects how someone learns, moves through the world, and connects with people around them. This year's global theme, Love Your Eyes, is a reminder that eye health is basic, essential care, not an afterthought, and accessible care of every kind is something we care deeply about.

Inland Respite CEO Adrienne and Sr. Learning & Development Manager Grecia recently attended the CDSA Aligned Annual Conference in Lake Tahoe, joining disability service leaders from across California to learn from one another and bring new ideas back to their organizations.

This year was especially meaningful for Inland Respite. Grecia had the opportunity to present our Supervisor & Manager Leadership Academy, sharing how we’re developing leaders within our organization to better support the teams behind our respite services.

Being part of conversations like these keeps Inland Respite connected to what is happening across California’s IDD service community. It also gives us an opportunity to share what we’re learning here at home.

Thank you to the California Disability Services Association for creating a space where providers can learn from each other and continue strengthening services for people with IDD and their families.

Today is World Cerebral Palsy Day, so let's start with the basics. 💙

Cerebral palsy is a group of conditions that affect movement, posture, and coordination, and it looks different for everyone who has it. Some people need daily support, others need very little.Swipe through with us, then join us in the part that matters most: listen, include, support, advocate.

It's the same commitment we bring to every family we work with. inlandrespite.com

Today marks the start of Mental Illness Awareness Week 💛,
and we wanted to open with something simple.

About one in five adults in the U.S. experiences a mental health condition each year. Caregivers and direct support professionals are very much part of that picture, and giving so much of yourself to someone else's care doesn't mean your own needs go on pause.

This week, we're glad to slow down and talk about mental health with the honesty and care it deserves, for the people we support and the people doing the supporting.

This year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month theme is Celebrating Value and Talent, and we couldn’t agree more.
People with disabilities bring real skill and heart to every workplace, including ours, and we’re proud to say so out loud this October.💙

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

Awareness gets people talking, but inclusion is what actually changes someone's day: a seat at the table, a friend who shows up, a job that's a good fit. That's the part worth paying attention to all month, not just today.

A Superhero Day made for some pretty special families. 💙

On September 19, Inland Respite joined the Ives Torres Foundation for Superhero Day, where individuals with disabilities and their families came together for a day of fun and access to community resources.

We were glad to be there sharing information about respite care and connecting with families, including some familiar faces from Inland Respite.
Thank you, Ives Torres Foundation, for welcoming us and putting together such a fun day for the IDD community!

When a community shows up for its athletes, you can feel it. 💙🔥

On September 20, Inland Respite joined Special Olympics athletes and law enforcement at the Promenade in Temecula in support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Between conversations with families and meeting other local organizations, our Community Engagement Team had plenty of opportunities to share what respite care can look like for families who may need it.

We loved being part of the day and supporting a fundraiser that gives back to the Special Olympics community.

Communication is about being understood. 🤟💙

Today, on International Day of Sign Languages, we recognize the importance of sign languages and the role they play in the lives of Deaf people around the world.

May today encourage more people to learn about sign language and the importance of communication access.
