What's Your Grief

Important grief reminder: just because you don’t feel like you’ve “grown” it doesn’t mean you’re grieving wrong. Many people who decide to share a grief memoir or their “grief journey” on instagram or a blog do so because they have experienced some growth, or believe they will. This can leave people with the distorted perception that in grief you’re “supposed” to have grand moments of growth. The reality, which we know from both research and from looooots of people we’ve worked with and heard from, is that some people do experience growth, and many don’t. And that’s okay. Your grief isn’t better or worse either way. Don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.

The Department of Human Services has formally announced to allow facility residents outside visits as long as visitors follow facility screening policies, social distance and wear masks. So all residents (unless a facility has an active COVID outbreak) should be free to see loved ones outside.

We love our fidget quilts!

We want to send a special thank you to the creators of these bright, adorable, and very special fidget quilts: Marilyn Wybenga, Jen Buchanan, Chyris Hulshof, Margie Bowman, and Libby Ramirez. You all helped us jump start our collection. Thank you for using your talent to support our patients.

“These quilts have made a big difference to my two patients with dementia. The joy and excitement my patients showed when I put them on their laps brought tears to my eyes.” ~ Mary Ellis, RN

If you would like to contribute, please drop them off with your name and contact information to our front desk. Contact Naomi with any questions at [email protected].
