Your friendly reminder to eat a snack (even if you don't feel like it). Your hunger and fullness cues might be off thanks to your eating disorder, and sometimes you have to override your eating disorder and eat because it's been a few hours, or you have a headache, or there's a cute kid and donuts. Whatever the reason, grab a snack with us!

If you've been around for awhile, you've seen that every Monday, we post an affirmation (and if you're new here, hi! Come see us every Monday for an affirmation!)

But what if affirmations don't work for you? They feel hokey or fake or unrealistic for you?

1. Know that this feeling is okay. You don't have to be in a place where affirmations always feel good or even okay. Just notice what comes up for you.
2. Shift language from positive to neutral. You don't have to say, "My body is amazing," if you're really not feeling it. Try, "I accept my body as it is today."
3. Turn the affirmation into a question, and see how it feels. Instead of "I honor my body with self care," what does it feel like to say, "What if I honor my body with self care?"
4. Use language to bridge the affirmation to make it more true for you and work your way to an affirmation. Try, "My wrinkles are symbols of my wisdom," to, "My wrinkles show that I have lived and had experiences."

How do you feel about affirmations? Is there something you'd rather see every Monday? Let us know in the comments!

Making pasta from scratch is an incredible experience I'm lucky to have had. It's being mindful about your food in a completely different way, and it gives a new appreciation for something so simple as pasta. Making pasta is a complete sensory experience- the feel of the dough, the smell of the flour and egg, the different shapes it can take, and the dreaming of how you'll enjoy the pasta. Being afraid of food can rob you of this rich experience, both making and eating the pasta. We want to help you find food freedom, so you can make your own pasta and prepare it just how you like. Bon appétit!

Happy ! It's always a good day for dessert, in our opinion, and we hope you'll enjoy a delicious treat today! You don't have to earn dessert, compensate for it, or make it from scratch. Pick something you love, and dig in!

For today's affirmation, let's talk about self care. Many people believe self care is bubble baths, massages, or comforting movies under a cozy blanket. It can be any of those, but self care can also be a daily practice- eating even when it feels hard, prioritizing sleep, speaking kindly to yourself, spending time in nature, and asking for help. It's not as glamorous as a spa day, but it's how you care for your body and mind, and it's so important to make yourself a priority. You deserve it! 💚

What is your relationship to candy? In eating disorder recovery, we aim to make candy something you can enjoy without guilt, compensation, or really, much thought. Eating disorders try and strip away the fun in food. Try not to let your ED win, and try eating a piece of candy. It's just food, after all, and food is neither good nor bad. Are you a chocolate or fruity candy person? 🍫🍬🍭
