Why doesn’t your church teach stewardship of the body?
Somewhere along the way, Christianity started treating the physical and spiritual like two separate categories. Prayer matters. Worship matters. Bible study matters. But what you eat, how you sleep, whether your body is chronically stressed or running on empty — that got filed under worldly concerns. Like God does not have much to say about it.
Except He does.
Romans 12:1 says to present your bodies as a living sacrifice. Not just your quiet time. Your body. First Corinthians 6 says your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. You were bought with a price. Glorify God in your body.
I think the church stays quiet about this partly because people have made health into vanity. And honestly, I lived that. I built a career around it. But the abuse of something does not erase the responsibility of it. Money becomes an idol and churches still teach financial stewardship. Rest becomes laziness and God still commands Sabbath. The answer to misuse is not silence. It is right teaching.
This is not about pant size or earning anything. This is about stewardship. Your body is the vessel God gave you to worship, serve, love your people, and carry out your calling. And if the enemy can keep believers exhausted, sick, and disconnected from God’s design, that affects your ministry, your family, and your ability to show up for what you were created to do.
Jesus did not save floating spirits. He created human beings — body, soul, and spirit. Scripture has far more to say about this than most of us have ever been taught.
