EBM Fitness Solutions EBM Fitness Solutions now brings elite Rehab Fitness to the workplace. Invest in a pain-free culture. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

We don't wait for your employees to get injured—we provide the clinical expertise to ensure they never have to. I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Certified Sports Nutritionist from the International Society of Sports Nutrition (CISSN). All of that basically makes this a one-stop shop for all the things you will need to improve fitness, rehab injuries, and improve nutrition. My background and experience make me well-adept at working with any individual who wants to achieve improved fitness and function while minimizing the risk of injury while doing so. I know when to work around injuries and when to work them to help improve them. I have worked with many individuals who were able to achieve weight-loss goals while decreasing their pain level and returning to a level of function they once thought lost. My philosophy focuses on teaching people how to move better. Once we learn to do that, we are then free to work as hard as we need/want to so we can obtain your goal(s). Part of this involves starting with the basics and teaching people how to feel the proper muscles working and to minimize any compensatory movement patterns that have developed. Achieving any goal is about getting the right mindset, being accountable and being consistent with the actions it takes to achieve whatever the goal might be. There are many ways that we will discuss doing this to allow you to reach your goals, enjoy the process and be able to make the changes part of a new way of doing things going forward. EBM Fitness Solutions looks to build an environment with a sense of family, community, and support for one another. Ultimately, we are all working towards similar goals. We just start out at different points with a different backstory.

Why getting that MRI won't help you get any better.

As you may or may not know, I specialize in getting people out of pain and back to living life to their fullest. In some cases, people ask if they should get an x-ray or an MRI. If you are just interested in the short answer and do not care about what the research says, the short answer is no. Or at least, probably not.

Imaging can help, but not usually if it is used in isolation. You also need some sort of an evaluation and the willingness to actually make some changes to get yourself out of pain.

Step one when after evaluating a person is to TREAT WHAT YOU FIND not what’s on the image. I have met plenty of people that had and MRI before we met yet their evaluation and associated symptoms did not match up with what the image was showing.

Blindly seeking out an image to solve your pain riddle is no different than hopping from exercise program to exercise program or from diet to diet and wondering why nothing is improving.

Meal frequency. Does it matter?

How many times a day do you eat? How many times a day should you eat? Is there even a correct answer to this conundrum? The short answer is that it does not matter much.

The preponderance of the research suggests that increased meal frequency does not play a significant role in decreasing body weight/weight composition.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Protein smoothie cheat sheet.

Most people know, on some level, that nutrition is vital to reaching any goal you have. Most people would also agree, or at least acknowledge, that protein is a key cog in that wheel.

You want to be taking in enough to feed the lean mass (muscle or fat-free mass) you have and have enough to build more muscle. It is almost always a good idea to add muscle when you can.

A quick and dirty breakfast idea.

Making good, healthy decisions when eating is hard. Way harder than exercising. It requires more planning and preparation and is influenced by time, stress, emotions, socio-economic status, and heritage.

Getting adequate protein is key but this is usually the hardest macronutrient to get. It requires the most time to prepare.

Carbs are easy. Just open and enjoy.

Here is a really easy recipe that sets you up for success in the morning. These are mini egg omelets. You can also call them egg muffins but I wouldn't trust a person that said that.

Should you eat differently when recovering from an injury?

At some point in your life, you are going to deal with an injury. If you are lucky, it will be minor and not limit you much at all.

The other side of that coin is you suffer a more severe injury or you get injured regularly and just seem to find ways to hurt yourself as if it was your part-time job. It’s like you have one of those rain clouds following you around everywhere.

So, should you eat differently when you are recovering from an injury? Possibly. I guess differently depends on where you are starting from. But, in most cases, the answer is probably going to be ‘yes’.

FREE Home Workout Guide

Sometimes, getting to the gym just isn’t going to happen. Maybe there is an impromptu work function, some family-related outing or maybe a global pandemic literally shuts everything down.

No matter what the reason, being able to get good workouts in at home is an ace you want to have up your sleeve.

Sadly, you probably do not have any sort of plan for home. Maybe you don’t have much equipment or you do not know what exercises to do.

Good news, I have you covered.

All exercise programs MUST start with an assessment.

You are thinking about starting an exercise program. You are ready. You are motivated and you are going to dominate and accomplish all of your goals. How do you know what exercises to start with?

Is it some random drawing by throwing exercises in a hat and pulling them out? Do you hit up the internet and find the latest and greatest to follow? Do you turn to Instagram and the girl with the painted-on yoga pants or the guy-that-never-seems-to-wear-a-shirt-in-any-video?

I mean, they LOOK like they know what they are doing, right?

As you look around the gym you belong to, where do you start? And how do you make that determination?
