Today we stood by at the Quad-City Times Bix 7 race. The entire MEDIC fleet is stationed at, or near the race route and nearly every MEDIC EMS employee is on duty working this event. We also had several mutual aid ambulances assisting us today including Genesis Health System Ambulance, Durant Ambulance Service and Paramount Ambulance. We also worked closely with our community partners including the Davenport Fire Department, Davenport Police Department, Scott Emergency Communications Center (SECC) & Scott County IA Emergency Management Agency

Below are photos of the command center at the SECC and pictures of our fleet and employees along the race route.

We want to thank our employees, partner agencies and the community for making this another wonderful Quad City event.

Hey #Davenport, let’s all take the pledge to be a #WaterWatcher and you could #SaveALife. It is important to stay cool during this heat but let’s not forget the importance of water safety by following these tips:

💧Put down your cell phone
💧Avoid other activities
💧Keep your eyes on the water
💧Take turns with other adults for a break

Please join us in congratulating System Status Controller Columbia who is the recipient of the Life Impactor Award for exemplary performance while assisting a caller with childbirth delivery instructions. On May 15, 2021 Columbia used the Medical Priority Dispatch System to help a caller deliver a healthy baby girl prior to the arrival of the ambulance and the fire first responders. This is the second Life Impactor Award for exemplary childbirth in less than a month to be awarded to an SSC.

Pictured is SSC Columbia with his certificate. He is standing next to his locker displaying the pink stork decal. Each time an SSC receives a Life Impactor Award a decal is placed on their locker to remind them of the impact the have on the community each time they handle a 9-1-1 call. You will notice lockers in this picture with red hearts and purple stroke symbols. A red heart signifies that an SSC instructed a caller through CPR resulting in the patient surviving. A purple stroke symbol signifies yearly recognition of the SSC’s recognition of a stroke over the phone and the crew confirming the stroke alert in the field. There have been thirteen Red Heart Life Impactor Awards, eleven Stroke Life Impactor Awards and one Blue Childbirth Life Impactor Award given in the communication center since the program was launched last year.

This program was piloted in our communication center and has now been expanded to include EMT’s and Paramedics responding to calls.

Please join us in congratulating System Status Controller (Dispatcher) Taylor who is the first recipient of the Life Impactor Award for exemplary performance while assisting a caller with childbirth instructions. On April 20, 2021 Taylor received a call transfer from the Scott Emergency Communications Center (SECC) for a woman in labor. SSC Taylor used the Medical Priority Dispatch System to help the caller successfully deliver a healthy baby boy prior to the arrival of the ambulance and fire first responders.

Pictured is SSC Taylor with her Life Impactor Certificate. Taylor is standing next to her locker displaying a blue stork decal, a red heart and a purple stroke symbol. The red heart signifies that Taylor instructed a caller through CPR resulting in the patient surviving and the purple stroke symbol symbolizes yearly recognition of Taylor recognizing a stroke during call intake and the crew confirming the stroke alert in the field.

Each time an SSC receives a Life Impactor Award a decal is placed on their locker so that when they come to work and leave for the day they are reminded that they make an impact on the lives of our community each time they take a 9-1-1 call. Though Taylor is the first recipient of the Childbirth Award there have been thirteen Red Heart Life Impactor Awards given and 11 Stroke Life Impactor Awards given since the program started.

This program was piloted in our communication center and we are proud to announce that it has now been expanded to include the EMT’s and Paramedics responding to calls.

Great Job Today by MEDIC EMS Special Response Team at the University of Iowa - Full Scale Special Pathogens Exercise! Keep up the good work...Ben Anderson too..cannot tag for some reason...
A couple of weeks ago. He demanded we see Mikey before we left.
I have a bunch of medic ems clothes, and somehow 3 alpha uniforms, size large, with the disco patch on them. No clue how I have these. 2 short sleeve and 1 long sleeve with misc. other uniform items. Let me know if you're interested and I'll stop by P2 and drop them off. Otherwise they are going to the trash bin.
Now that our lives have settled a bit and our minds aren't as overwhelmed as they have been over the past 5 days our family would like to thank the Eldridge Police Dept, Eldridge Volunteer Fire Dept, and Medic EMS for their part in saving our mom's life last Friday evening. There are Angels Among Us!!
Friends and Famiily, I have created a page from Caring Bridge that will allow my brother (Shawn Snaith) and I to keep you all updated on Christian's progress. He is going to be in the hospital for a couple weeks and the medical expenses are going to start coming in, so if you can donate any money to them, it would be greatly appreciated. When you get added to our Caring Bridge webpage, you can go to Ways to Help and click on Support Links. There is a link to YouCaring.com and you may donate through there. Thank you all for your continued prayers and any donation that you may give. Christian is a fighter and God is awesome! https://www.caringbridge.org/public/christiansnaith
