On today's briefing with the media, we provided a reminder about the importance of masking and social distancing, even as our community is being vaccinated. #TogetherQC

The COVID-19 pandemic isn’t the only public health challenges that we continue to face as a community. Lead testing remains a vital component of childhood health, but due to a variety of factors related to the pandemic, there has been a dramatic decrease in the number of children being tested for lead. https://www.liveleadfreeqc.org/

Catch the latest from our county health department and local health system leaders:
>CORRECTION for Rock Island County watchers/listeners-- their next COVID clinic for doses is Tuesday, 2/16 (NOT 2/12 or 2/15).
>ALL COVID vaccines for the 65+ priority group in Scott County will be administered by our 3 community-wide health systems (those eligible do NOT need to contact them).
>Those 65+ in Scott County who do NOT have a health care provider (or at least not one within Genesis, UnityPoint Health - Trinity, or Community Health Care, Inc.) may call the CASI help line at 563-386-7477 (if you have NOT already called to get on their help/waiting list).
>Rock Island County Registration for those needing a Moderna 2nd dose is switching to TOMORROW, 2/11 (instead of Friday).
>You are eligible to register for Rock Island County's 2nd dose clinic ONLY if you received the first dose of Moderna on or before 1/19. #VaccinateQC #TogetherQC

An important update on the COVID-19 vaccine for our community. Please watch the video update below for further information. Highlights include:

- Our weekly supply of COVID-19 vaccine will be stable for the rest of February (2,250 doses total each week).

- Vaccine for the 65+ priority group in Scott County is being provided to our 3 community-wide health systems: Genesis Health System, UnityPoint Health - Quad Cities Muscatine, and Community Health Care, Inc. for administration through their clinics.

- These healthcare providers will reach out to their 65+ patients to schedule vaccination appointments as they receive vaccine each week. **Individuals 65 and older who do not have a provider, or a provider who is not a member of the 3 health systems, will be supported by the CASI - Center for Active Seniors in getting connected for vaccine.

PLEASE NOTE: Patients 65 years and older of these health systems do not need to do anything at this time. Their provider's office will call them.

- Vaccination of Phase 1B Tier 1 priority groups will occur at the same time and will be organized by our department.

***This change does not impact 2nd doses for anyone that received a 1st dose at a health department clinic.

A written version of the update in this video will be available shortly on our website: https://www.scottcountyiowa.gov/health/covid19/news/releases.

Remember, it's a new location for tomorrow's (2/9) Rock Island County Health Department COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic (you must already have a scheduled time slot)... #VaccinateQC #TogetherQC

This week’s Rock Island County Health Department mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held Tuesday in the TaxSlayer Center concourse. We have had to move this clinic to an indoor facility for the safety of our staff and residents due to extremely cold conditions. You must have a confirmed time slot to receive your vaccination at this clinic or any of our clinics.

Those with confirmed time slots are asked to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes early. People will be asked to wait in their cars in the TaxSlayer Center parking lot and tune their radio to 89.7 FM to be told when people in their time slot will be allowed to come into the building. Only about 50 people will be allowed in the building at the same time to adhere to Restore Illinois guidelines. Social distancing and masking will be enforced.

The circle drive in front of the TaxSlayer Center is available for people with mobility issues who need to be dropped off at their registered time slot. The parking lot next to the building is reserved for those with handicapped parking placards.

We will continue to host drive-through vaccination clinics at the Greater Quad City Auto Auction in Milan when weather conditions allow. We will announce through our media partners, on social media and our website whenever weather forces us to relocate to the backup site at the TaxSlayer Center.

This will allow us to update our plans and provide some continuity in vaccine availability for the residents of Scott County as we move past week 1 of Phase 1B. We will be sharing more information next week as we learn more from the state health department.

Call-in option for seniors to signup for vaccines going live Feb. 15:

Beginning Monday, Feb. 15, the Rock Island County Health Department is working with Alternatives for the Older Adult, Inc., to start taking calls from older adults (65 and older) who do not have the ability to register online for vaccinations. The Alternatives’ Vaccine Support Center will provide answers to questions, assist to book appointments (if available) and/or add names to waiting lists to be registered when open appointments are available. The Rock Island County Health Department is planning to designate a few vaccine slots for these individuals each week.

A toll-free number is currently being set up and that phone number will be shared with the public prior to the Feb. 15 rollout.

Please note:
• Vaccine Support Center will open Monday, Feb. 15
• We will take calls between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
• A toll-free number to call will be released in the next week.
• We may not get you registered, but will get you on a waiting list.
• Be patient as you know the lines may be busy, particularly in the first couple of weeks.

Alternatives will also work with area human service agencies to broaden the support to targeted neighborhoods and communities. Working with Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging, Project Now and the Quad Cities Open Network, (of more than 80 partner agencies), there is a centralized system to collect information and get as many people registered as soon as vaccination appointments become available.
