From painting and playing to exploring and making memories, I absolutely LOVE seeing our Ausome babies enjoying themselves and having a GOOD time!

And can we talk about how much fun these little ones were having?! 🥹 It’s the smiles, the creativity, and those precious little moments that make days like this so special!

As an Ausome Mom, these are the memories I love capturing. Watching our children discover new things, enjoy different activities, and simply experience the joy of being kids!

Just an Ausome Mom and her boys making memories! 💙💜🥰

I had to share a few of my favorite snapshots from the Morris Brown College Homecoming Parade because, at the end of the day, it’s moments like these with my sons that I cherish the most!

Between my big BLUE hair 😂, all the excitement, and spending time with my boys, we had ourselves a GOOD time!

And I absolutely loved seeing the children representing MSC Xceptional Empowerment Children’s Program! There’s something so special about watching our young people come together, enjoy themselves, and make memories.

A special shoutout to Ms. Kimberly (Kim Dassey-dejarnette ) for all the love and effort she put into organizing everything, and to Morris Brown College for the wonderful homecoming celebration! 💙💜

My boys are growing up on me, so you already know this Ausome Mom is going to hold on to every memory she can! 😂🥹

Autism awareness, community, bubbles, smiles, and so much JOY!! 🥰

Being part of the Morris Brown College Homecoming Parade was such a beautiful experience! As an autism mom, I always say that our children and families deserve to be seen, celebrated, and included in ALL spaces. And moments like these remind me why I love doing what I do!

We don’t always have to be in a classroom, at a conference, or hosting an event to spread autism awareness. Sometimes it’s as simple as showing up, having fun, and allowing our communities to see that autism is part of our world, too! 💙

A HUGE thank you to Ms. Kim Dassey-dejarnette for organizing and putting this together and to Morris Brown College (Morris Brown College ) for the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful celebration! We truly appreciate you! 💜

Motivational Monday 💙

When my son Jaylon was diagnosed with autism, I never imagined where this journey would take us. I was simply a mother trying to understand, learn, and make sure my child had everything he needed to thrive.

Over time, that purpose grew beyond our home. What began as advocating for my son became a calling to stand alongside other autism families and help make sure their voices, needs, and experiences are represented.

Being part of the Autism Speaks Advocacy Academy is another step in that journey. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn how to advocate for meaningful change not only here in Georgia, but on a national level as well.

Thank you, Autism Speaks and Autism Speaks Georgia, for giving advocates like me the opportunity to learn, grow, and bring the stories of our families into spaces where decisions are being made.

Jaylon will always be my why. But today, I advocate with so many more families on my heart. 💙

One family can inspire a mission. Many families can create change.

Truth be told… walking into your child’s IEP meeting can feel overwhelming.

As parents, we sometimes wonder if we’re asking the right questions or if our concerns will truly be heard. But here’s what I want every family to remember:

You are your child’s greatest advocate.

An IEP meeting isn’t about proving your child belongs—it’s about creating the support they need to thrive. Your perspective matters because no one knows your child better than you do.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, request clarification, or speak up when something doesn’t feel right. Collaboration between families and schools creates the strongest foundation for success.

At Ausome Life Institute, we believe empowered parents create empowered children. One conversation, one meeting, and one act of advocacy can make all the difference.

🍎 Motivational Monday

As another school year begins, I want to encourage every autism parent to remember this: your child doesn’t need a perfect parent—they need a prepared one.

Preparation isn’t about having every answer. It’s about creating routines that bring peace, staying organized through the busy moments, and making space for your child to feel safe, supported, and understood.

This week, take time to organize school supplies, review your child’s accommodations, prepare sensory tools, update communication folders, and establish routines that can make each morning a little smoother. These simple acts of preparation can help reduce anxiety, build confidence, and create a stronger foundation for learning.

And while you’re preparing your child, don’t forget to prepare your heart, too. Give yourself grace. There will be good days, challenging days, and unexpected moments—but every effort you make matters.

To every caregiver walking into this new school year: thank you for advocating, planning, showing up, and loving your child so well. Your consistency today is helping shape their confidence for tomorrow.

Truth Be Told Tuesday 💙💛

The truth is… autism caregiving is one of the most beautiful journeys you’ll ever walk, but it’s also one of the most demanding.

Some days, you’re advocating. Some days, you’re celebrating milestones. And some days, you’re simply trying to make it through the day.

For so long, many of us believed that taking time for ourselves meant we were taking time away from our children. But I’ve learned something different.

When we care for ourselves, we don’t love our children less—we love them from a healthier place.

Rest is not weakness.
Asking for help is not failure.
Taking a break is not selfish.

To every autism parent and caregiver reading this: your well-being matters too. You deserve moments to breathe, to heal, and to be poured into, because you cannot continue pouring from an empty cup.

Let’s normalize caring for the caregiver with the same compassion we give to everyone else. 💙
