Just in case no one told you today, you are not hard to love because someone struggled to love you.
You’re not unimportant because someone overlooked you. You’re not a failure because something didn’t work out, and you certainly don’t have to spend the rest of your life proving your worth to people who aren’t even asking the right questions.
I worked with clients today who were decades apart in age, and underneath their very different circumstances were some of the same painful beliefs.
I’m not enough. I don’t matter. People will always choose someone else.
And it got me thinking about how early we can start collecting these stories about ourselves and how long we can carry them without realizing they’re still influencing the way we experience the world.
So here’s my little reminder for you today.
You don’t have to earn your place here. You don’t have to convince anyone you’re worthy of being loved, and you don’t have to keep abandoning yourself in hopes that someone else won’t.
You’re allowed to be exactly who God created you to be.
Even if that makes a few people uncomfortable.
Especially then.
