Not everything needs a committee. šŸ˜‚

Sometimes we ask for input because we genuinely value another perspective.

Other times? We’re looking for reassurance, avoiding responsibility, or hoping someone else will make the decision for us.

There’s a difference between being collaborative and outsourcing your confidence.

You can listen to other perspectives and still trust your own judgment.

šŸ’š Power Thought: You don’t need everyone’s agreement to make a decision that’s yours to make.

A Question for Your Emerging You: Where are you asking for permission when what you really need is to trust yourself?

Some things really matter. Others? We just happen to like them a certain way. šŸ˜‚

The challenge is recognizing the difference.

When we treat every personal preference like a nonnegotiable principle, we can create conflict where there doesn’t need to be any.

And sometimes, the most useful question we can ask ourselves is: Does this actually matter, or do I just like it my way?

I’m exploring that distinction in Episode 605 of She Rises Daily: Emerging You in 10 — Stop Turning Preferences Into Principles.

Just because you prefer something doesn’t mean everyone else is doing it wrong.

We start with, ā€œI like it better this way.ā€

And somehow, three exits later, we’ve arrived at, ā€œThis is how it should be done.ā€ šŸ˜‚

But there’s a difference between a preference, a principle, and a requirement.

Not everything we feel strongly about is something everyone else needs to follow.

Sometimes flexibility begins with asking ourselves one simple question:

Does this genuinely matter, or do I just like my way better?

šŸŽ™ļø In Episode 605 of She Rises Daily: Emerging You in 10, we’re talking about what happens when personal preferences quietly become rules for everyone else.

POWER THOUGHT
You can have strong preferences without making them universal standards.

Changing your mind doesn’t mean you were wrong before.

It might mean you have information you didn’t have then.

Or you’ve had experiences you hadn’t had yet.
Maybe you’ve asked better questions.
You’ve listened to different people.
You’ve learned something.
You’ve changed.

We put so much pressure on ourselves to be consistent with things we’ve said, believed, wanted or even versions of ourselves we’ve already outgrown.

Growth should change your mind sometimes.

You are allowed to look at something you once believed and say:

I don’t see it that way anymore.

That’s not hypocrisy.

It just might be evidence that you’ve been paying attention.

POWER THOUGHT
You don’t owe your past self permanent agreement.

A QUESTION FOR YOUR EMERGING YOU
What are you allowing yourself to see differently now?

600 episodes. 600 straight days. šŸŽ™ļøšŸ’™šŸ’š

When I started She Rises Daily, I genuinely thought I’d run out of things to say after about a month.

Apparently… I still have s**t to say. šŸ˜‚

I didn’t have 600 ideas when I started. I had something I wanted to say and then I came back the next day.

Somewhere along the way, I learned that this podcast wasn’t just something I was creating for other people. It was creating something in me, too.

I’ve learned. I’ve changed my mind. I’ve trusted my voice. I’ve paid closer attention. And I’ve been reminded over and over that you don’t need one enormous story to have something worth sharing.

The woman who recorded Episode 1 couldn’t imagine Episode 600. The woman who kept showing up created her anyway.

To everyone who’s listened, shared, messaged me, or wondered where the hell I was when an episode didn’t publish — thank you. You are a huge part of these 600. šŸ’™šŸ’š

šŸŽ™ļø Episode 600 of She Rises Daily: Emerging You in 10 is live.

And apparently… we’re not done yet. šŸ˜‰

You don’t have to convince yourself it doesn’t matter just because it isn’t a catastrophe.

Something disappoints you.
A comment hurts.
Something doesn’t go the way you hoped. And almost immediately, the second conversation starts:

Why do I even care?
This shouldn’t bother me.
Other people have much bigger problems.
I need to get over it.

So now you’re dealing with the original feeling and arguing with yourself about whether you’re allowed to have it.

That’s a lot of unnecessary work.

Something can matter without being devastating. You can be disappointed without being dramatic. You can acknowledge that something hurt without giving it more power than it deserves.

Sometimes the healthiest response isn’t convincing yourself not to care.

It’s simply saying:

Yeah. That mattered to me.

And letting that be true.

šŸŽ™ļø I talk about this in Episode 584 of She Rises Daily: Emerging You in 10 — Stop Trying to Make It Not Matter.

If you’ve ever tried to talk yourself out of caring about something you clearly cared about, this one’s for you.

POWER THOUGHT

ā€œIt mattersā€ and ā€œit’s a catastropheā€ are not the same thing.

If you’re new here, hi. I’m Shellie. šŸ‘‹

Around here, we talk a lot about becoming - not becoming someone else, but becoming more fully yourself.

I’m an executive coach, organizational psychologist, author, podcaster, and apparently someone incapable of having a hobby without eventually turning it into a leadership metaphor. šŸ˜‚

I talk about confidence, self-awareness, boundaries, communication, identity, growth, and all the complicated human stuff that happens in between.

Sometimes it’s thoughtful. Sometimes it’s irreverent. Occasionally pickleball gets involved.

Okay. Frequently pickleball gets involved.

šŸŽ™ļø I’m also the host of She Rises Daily: Emerging You in 10, a short daily podcast built around one idea you can take with you into your day.

If you’re figuring out what’s next, questioning an old version of yourself, or simply trying to live and lead with a little more intention, you belong in this conversation.

Welcome. I’m glad you’re here. šŸ’™šŸ’š

Here’s to becoming more fully you.

Do you ever say or think? ā€œThat’s just who I am.ā€

Sometimes, I think that’s great self-awareness.

I know I’m direct.
I know I need time to process certain things.
I know I tend to take charge.
I know I avoid conflict with certain people.

Knowing your patterns matters.

But there’s a difference between understanding a pattern and surrendering to it.

Self-awareness isn’t supposed to lock you into a permanent version of yourself.

It’s supposed to give you more choice.

You can know why you do something and still decide you want to do it differently.

You can understand yourself without using that understanding as an excuse to stop growing.

POWER THOUGHT
Self-awareness should give you choices, not limitations.

A QUESTION FOR YOUR EMERGING YOU
What have you been calling ā€œjust who I amā€ that might actually be something you’re ready to examine?

This thing is kicking my ass and somehow… I kinda love it. šŸ˜‚

I’ve officially started adding the Peloton into my routine, mostly because I’m hoping it’ll help with my stamina, leg strength, and agility for pickleball.

Because obviously I cannot simply acquire a new form of exercise without immediately asking, ā€œBut how will this improve my pickleball game?ā€ šŸ˜‚

I’m also trying very hard not to do what I tend to do with new things: go from beginner to WHY AM I NOT EXCELLENT AT THIS YET?

So for now, I’m riding. I’m learning. I’m sweating considerably more than seems necessary.

And apparently… I’m having fun.

Did not see that last part coming. šŸ˜‚

09/12/2026

You don’t have to use every strength you have.

Good at solving problems?

That doesn’t mean every problem is yours to solve.

Great at taking charge?

Not every situation needs you to lead.

Highly empathetic?

You don’t have to absorb every emotion in the room.

Incredibly responsible?

That doesn’t make everything your responsibility.

The things we’re good at can easily become our automatic responses.

Maybe maturity isn’t just knowing your strengths.

Maybe it’s knowing when they’re actually useful—and when they’re not.

šŸŽ™ļø I dig into this in Episode 582 of She Rises Daily: Emerging You in 10 — You Don’t Have to Use Every Strength You Have.

Podcast app: https://bit.ly/4AaFW36

If one of your strengths has quietly become your default setting, this one’s for you.

POWER THOUGHT
Sometimes the most skillful use of a strength is choosing not to use it.
