Unboxing the brand new Control Plus pessary, designed for stress urinary incontinence support, and I’m excited about the potential it could also offer for the back wall, because more options for women to try is always a win.

So many hats, one very full day 😄

Here's what's behind a few of them:

The biofeedback screen lets you see your pelvic floor tighten and release in real time.

The teacher hat is real too. I have an M.Ed., and a lot of sessions are me explaining things nobody explained before.

I was also one of the first 21 OTs and PTs in the U.S. trained in Low Pressure Fitness.

And yes, I raised three sons and now live with two German Shepherds, so I know what a busy week feels like.

Whatever you're dealing with, from pelvic pain to birth prep to a scar that feels off, you can ask me.

DM me what you'd like help with and I'll tell you what a session could look like.

Ghost season, but only for the stuff that keeps women stuck 👻

A few reasons behind those signs:

Leaking, pain with intimacy, and pushing that feels like guesswork are common, and they are also things a pelvic health OT can work on.

Holding your breath sends pressure straight down onto the pelvic floor, so learning to coordinate breath and release often helps more than pushing harder.

A C-section scar can look fully healed on the outside while still feeling numb, pulling, or tight underneath.

Never ghost the symptom that keeps coming back.

If one of these signs hit home, comment GHOST or DM me which one and I'll point you toward what to look into next.

Which one is you? 👀

If you’ve done the crunches, the planks, and the “just engage your core” cues and still feel stuck, it usually isn’t a effort problem. It’s a coordination problem.

A strong core isn’t just abs. It’s your breath, your ribs, your deep abdominals, and your pelvic floor working together. When that team isn’t communicating, you can see it as doming or a ridge down the belly, hip and back strain during ab work, rib flare, holding your breath, or leaking and pressure when you lift, jump, or cough.

None of this means you’re broken. It means your core is asking for a different starting point.

Swipe through and tell me in the comments which one you relate to most. 🤍

A lot of moms are told how to push, but not many are taught that leg position can change the shape of the space baby is moving through.

That matters.

Your pelvis is not one fixed tube, and labor is not always about pushing harder. Sometimes it is about changing the position of your hips, knees, or ankles so the space works a little differently for where baby is in the moment.

A few examples:

✨ Knees wider + ankles closer = usually more external hip rotation
✨ Knees closer + ankles wider = usually more internal hip rotation
✨ Those changes can support different parts of the pelvis as baby descends

This is one of the reasons I like birth prep to be practical.
Not just “here’s what labor might be like,” but “here’s what to actually try.”

If you want me to make a follow-up post on which pushing positions I like to pair with each setup, I can do that next.

“Just relax” is not a helpful cue when you have no idea what relaxation is supposed to feel like in your body.

That is one reason I use biofeedback.

It gives us real-time information about what your pelvic floor is doing during breathing, release, bearing down, and position changes.

For some moms, biofeedback shows that they are holding tension when they thought they were relaxing.
For others, it helps them understand what an effective push feels like before labor.

The goal is not perfection.

The goal is to make something invisible easier to understand, so your body has something familiar to come back to when the moment is here.

Save this if pushing is the part of birth prep that still feels unclear.

Quick check-in: where’s your jaw right now? 👀

Your jaw and your pelvic floor are connected through your fascia and your nervous system, so tension in one can show up in the other. If you clench your teeth, hold your jaw tight, or carry stress in your face, your pelvic floor may be bracing right along with it.

Try this today: let your tongue rest, soften your jaw, and take one slow exhale. See if anything else lets go with it.

This is one of the simplest ways to start telling your body it’s safe to relax.

I’m not here to take away your couch time. You’re pregnant. You deserve to be comfortable.

But if you always end up curled back, tucked under, and compressed through your ribs and pelvis, your body may start feeling more tight, achy, or stuck.

As a pelvic health occupational therapist, I like pregnant moms to think about lounging in a way that gives the body more options.

Try:

🛋️ sitting more on your sit bones instead of fully tucking your pelvis under
🌙 side-lying with pillows between the knees and under the belly
🌀 using a birth ball for gentle pelvic circles if sitting feels stiff
🤲 leaning forward over pillows, a couch, or a ball when your back needs a break
🌬️ checking that you can still breathe into your ribs instead of bracing your belly

No single position is magic, and you do not need to sit “perfectly” all day.

But if your back, hips, pelvis, or belly feel worse after resting, your resting position may be part of the conversation.

Save this for your next couch reset.
