Hormones And Gut Health: Why Is Gut Health Important?

Optimising our gut health is key to keeping our hormones in balance. Gut health is so important because the microbiome has many functions. It:
* Aids the synthesis and regulation of hormones and neurotransmitters
* Facilitates absorption of macro and micronutrients
* Has an essential role in the immune system
* Contributes to regulation of estrogen levels in the body

Scientists know that 95% of Serotonin is produced and stored in the gut. This is why people with unhealthy microbiomes also often experience feelings of depression and anxiety.
An imbalanced gut microbiome is also one of the causes of a low-performing thyroid, also known as Hypothyroidism. Symptoms of this include chronic fatigue, weight gain, and hair loss.

You don’t have to do it all.

Yes, that’s true, you don’t have to do it all. It’s okay to not have it together every minute of the day. It’s okay to be exactly where you are and feel all the things you feel.
Have you see those fall bucket list? they are overwhelmed but sometimes we just want to check everything even it seems impossible to check everything off. Today I invite you to just pick a few, the ones that are more important to you and your family. Forget about check everything on those long and exhausting bucket list. Or any to do list. Stop ✋ for a moment breath and relax. You don’t have to do it all. My goal this week it’s just do what I can, and what I want.

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY 😀🧘🏻‍♀️🛌🛀🏻🥒📚

On our new series of Wellness we will be learning about Probiotics and healthy gut. Each Wednesday during the month of October we will learn a little about this topic so stayed tune for more information each week. You can ask questions on the comments below; and we will answer them and share the information each week.

Before we get into detail, we have to get clear on what exactly we’re talking about. In the large intestine – also known as the gut – there exists something called the microbiome or gut microbiome. The gut microbiome contains the largest number and variation of live microorganisms or bacteria in the body, and a proportion of that bacteria is “good” or beneficial bacteria, which are probiotics.

Now that we know what they are, we need to know why they are important in our body.

There are a range of benefits that probiotics offer to our bodies. The good bacteria in the gut assists in the digestion process of food. More particularly, they help break down the fibre in food as our stomach and small intestine (where most of the digestive process occurs) are unable to break it down. By digesting fibre, good gut bacteria play a role in the production of short chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which are also associated with gut health and reduced risk of certain diseases like colorectal cancer. Which is one the primary cause of death in the US.

But for me this is how I get to share with you my wellness journey and how I can motivate and coach you through your wellness journey as well. With that in mind it’s that I have this page. To show you that no one it’s perfect, that life it’s hard sometimes, but everything will get better at the end, if we set our mind into and work hard to accomplish your goals or desires. Goals are different for all of us, but as a community we can support each other and encourage each other. I invite you to share this space with others and invite them to be part of our community. Our Story

I am Doris Martinez, an army wife and a mother of three little children. I have Bachelor's degree in Athletic training; I am a Certified personal trainer, Nutrition consultant Certified, TRX Qualified and current a Holistic Nutritionist Practitioner Student In 2012 I had a wake-up call when my seven years old son challenged me to race him up the stairs, Now he is 14 years old. I couldn't believe I was not able to do it. I was depressed and devastated by it, and I was shocked by how out of shape I was. On that day, I determined to challenge myself and do something about it, and I had enough. With a combination of healthy eating and a strict exercise regiment, I was able to change my life and achieved my goals.

I was never a person that liked vegetables, and I enjoyed eating high carb foods. So what did I do? I modified my diet; I started incorporating more vegetables, mainly greens. I moderated and carefully watched my sugar and fat consumption, and minimized "unhealthy" carbs intake. I also started to workout and participated in 5km, 10km, and half marathons around the community. It was not easy, but once I saw the results, I knew I was on the right path, and there was no turning back. Thanks to these little changes, I lost 50 pounds in about five months, and I was able to get in the best shape of my life.

YOU are capable of doing what I did too.

One thing I learned is that DIETS don't work, they are a temporary fit, after trying one diet after the other your name it I did it.
