“Dialysis isn’t truly living — it’s just surviving.” While dialysis keeps me alive, it takes a major toll on my body, consumes hours of my week, and greatly affects my quality of life.

A kidney transplant would free me from dialysis and give me the chance to really live again.

I want to be a mom. But that is a dream that cannot become a reality until I receive a kidney transplant and am healthy enough to consider bringing a little one into my life.

Living with dialysis treatments and kidney failure is difficult. I often experience extreme fatigue, back pain, and tingling in my hands and feet.

I don't have the energy for many of the things I love. While my friends and family are out living their best lives, I get to watch from the sidelines. ALL BLOOD TYPES CAN BE CONSIDERED TO SAVE MY LIFE!

A person on the kidney transplant list with an incompatible (blood and tissue type don’t match) but willing and approved donor can receive a living donor transplant through the paired kidney exchange program.

This means a donor could save at least two lives.

There is no cure for kidney failure. The only treatments are dialysis and transplant. Dialysis is grueling! For over 5 years I have spent at least 15 hours a week hooked up to a machine just to stay alive. A transplant will give me back time…time I want to spend travelling with my husband without worrying about coordinating my dialysis schedule into our trip.

People on the kidney transplant list are running out of time. The wait time for a deceased donor kidney is 3-5 years and can be up to 10 years in some parts of the country.

I can’t wait that long. A living donor will help me get “off the list” and save my life.
