She Craved Salt and Felt Nauseated for Months. What Was Wrong? - A familiar story: There was really something wrong with her! Hadn’t the doctor been listening? She felt a hot rush of tears stream down her face. Why are you so emotional? the doctor asked. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/30/magazine/addisons-disease-primary-adrenal-insufficiency.html

She was always tired, and her stomach had become strangely fragile. But her unaccountably tan skin clued doctors in to what ailed her.

COVID-19: Cortisol Levels on Admission Can Help Predict Severity

COVID-19: Cortisol Levels on Admission Can Help Predict Severity | Patients with COVID-19 who have high levels of the steroid hormone cortisol on admission to hospital have a substantially increased risk of dying, UK researchers have discovered. https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/932705

Those with COVID-19 do appear to mount a stress response to the infection, and cortisol levels on admission to hospital can help determine the prognosis, say UK researchers.

Hi All: I have a video about Cushing's on YouTube titled: Is it obesity or Cushing's? I target people who may have Cushing's but have never heard of it. The not knowing is the hardest. You feel so alone. I need your help to share this video with your family and friends and ask them to share it with their family and friends. WE can make a difference. Let's turn this Zebra into a horse. On YouTube in the search bar type in: Is it obesity or Cushing's?
I posted a video about Cushing's on YouTube titled: Is it obesity or Cushing's? I'm targeting people who are sick with Cushing's but don't know what it is. That for me was the worst. I felt so alone, doubting myself with no support. Doctors are taught if they hear hoofbeats think horse not Zebra. But Cushing's is rare so it gets overlooked. Let's share my video to turn this Zebra into a Horse. WE can do it.
Does anyone ever get their cortisol saliva test results? I don't understand why every time I do the saliva tests the doctor gets the results but they never show up on my portal Confused?
Manage Posts List ViewGrid View Lori Sonek H is feeling stressed. 9 mins · I feel like a complete fool right now I did my 3T MRI of pituitary tumor with & without contrast however they don't do the pituitary protocol there. I should have trusted my intuition & cancelled the appt. I went to the same place in 2015 for an MRI in a 1.5T machine with & without contrast & it came back completely normal. However I have 33 yrs worth of MRI's that state otherwise. I was so hoping that by taking a chance & showing them my prior CD's showing the tumor in the past they would be able to find something but I don't think this place could find a tumor if it was the size of a watermelon. I just want to cry now I feel so defeated & deflated since I should have followed my gut instincts & cancelled the MRI. Today I am doing my 24 hour urine cortisol test & I don't think I will find my way out of the forest. There is not one endocrinologist that knows anything about pituitary tumors & Cushings disease I am trying so hard but dealing with doctor's that are so uninformed just makes my stress level go through the roof. God help me figure this all out & give me strength. Just another let down once again & I don't know how much more of this I can deal with.
Hi all! I am a cushing’s survivor!!! More like warrior... it is definitely a battle! I had my adrenal tumor removed (left adrenalectomy)dec 12, 2018... I am finally (already) going to have an ACTH stimulation test done 5/21... I am currently on 2.5 mg hydrocortisone in the am and 2.5 pm... I am nervous to switch over to dexamethasone for the test. Has anyone experienced any withdrawl symptoms when switching over? How many days prior to the test did you switch medications? I sent an email to my doctor, still waiting to hear back. Thanks!
So I'm being tested for Cushing's starting tomorrow....24 hour pee test....So if I test positive what's next?
You are not alone.
Dr. Friedman patients in Houston, which lab do you use, please?
Hello.... would a neuroendocrinologist be needed or just a standard endocrinologist to work with me in getting a diagnosis? I've been with 3 different endos in the past year and no one can diagnose me. I do have a 9x6mm pituitary adenoma, which is quite large from what I am reading... but my endos keep thinking it is simply psuedo-cushings from stress. I am diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder from my psychiatrist, but I am highly functioning, but I do take on a lot of stress and it eats at me. I am so lost at this point. I have the moon-face, buffalo hump, striae, aches and pains, occasional severe stomach issues - but they tell me that could be from cortisol, but NOT from the pituitary tumor, but from psychological problems. My cortisol levels mostly come back normal with the exception of a few, and all my other tests such as ACTH, prolactin, growth hormone, etc.... they all come back fine, so I am very confused as to what to think anymore. Should I see a neuroendocrinologist? Thank You, Adam
