Getting a good night’s sleep is key to being healthy, now and in the future. Two recent studies cited in the APA Monitor provide more examples for the importance of SLEEP:

1) People who slept only 5- 6 hours a night were four times as likely to catch a cold as those who slept longer. (http://www.apa.org/monitor/2015/11/inbrief.aspx)

2) Mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer’s disease began much earlier on average (age 77) in adults with sleep breathing problems (including sleep apnea and heavy snoring) compared to onset around age 90 for those without sleep breathing problems. In addition, onset was delayed for 10 years in those whose sleep apnea was treated compared to those who left it untreated. (http://www.apa.org/monitor/2015/07-08/inbrief.aspx)
