Official GMU Student Nurses' Association

Official GMU Student Nurses' Association The Student Nurses' Association is the only association for the advancement of student nurses at George Mason University.

The George Mason Student Nurses’ Association is made up of nursing students enrolled at GMU in either the pre-nursing, traditional nursing, accelerated nursing, or graduate level nursing degree programs. George Mason Nursing students are unique in that we hold a high standard to what nursing practice is, we take pride in our work and learning, and continue to strive for excellence. We are highly dispersed throughout the Northern Virginia community for our clinical experience to include Fairfax county, Loudon county, Prince William county, Stafford county, Fredericksburg, and other varying locations. We are in the hospitals, in the schools, at community settings such as health departments, in out patient facilities, and in community programs. We work to improve our health profession through personal and team development, keeping ourselves updated and informed, and being involved in our communities. *Disclaimer- any posts, images, or comments made on this page have not been approved or do not reflect the views of George Mason University or the School of Nursing. They are announcements made by the Senior Representatives of the GMU Student Nurses' Association.*

Mission: Our mission is to organize, represent and mentor students preparing for licensure as registered nurses. We aim to promote the development of skills needed to be responsible and accountable members of the nursing profession; to offer chances for community service, and to advocate high quality health care. The George Mason University Student Nurses' Association (SNA) fully supports the Virginia Nursing Student Association (VNSA) and the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA). Involvement in SNA prepares students for involvement in professional associations upon graduation.

Next Generation Nurse

Hello, we hope that everyone is having a great last week of classes!

For the December meeting, we will be presenting our campaign that we are doing in honor of Nursing Now and the World Health Organization declaring 2020 to be the Year of the Nurse and Midwife. This is a historical event that we are excited to be a part of! We have been working hard on a project in which we hope to make waves in healthcare through creating the Next Generation of Nurses. We want to get everyone involved, spread our message, and positively impact nursing, so come to our meeting where we will hold focus groups and get your feedback on what you think a Next Generation Nurse should be. YOU are the next generation nurse, so make your opinions known!

Our meeting will be on Wednesday, December 11th at 4:00 pm in Peterson Hall 2405. We can't wait to hear what you have to say!
This meeting is not restricted to SNA members -- ANYONE in nursing, including pre-nursing, can attend!
If you are an SNA member, you will still receive one point toward your honor cord for attendance.

• Registering for the walk is free. Click on the link ( and scroll to the bottom of the page and click the join button (shown below); this will take you to the registration page for the GMU SNA group. You can donate to the cause on the same page if you would like to (any amount is a contribution).

• The SNA board has been exploring the idea of a possible junior/senior mentorship program. This program would allow juniors to have a senior mentor that you can turn to with any questions of nursing-school related needs you might have. This includes study tips, learning about internships/externships, and just having someone to talk to. This will also allow for senior students to take on a leadership and guidance role. For this to work we need junior and senior interest! Please fill out the survey below so that we can see your interest and ideas.
