The after effects aren’t generalized across the board.

Everyone is different.

The things they release are different.

The organs associated are different.
(Stay tuned for this)

Sometimes it’s emotional.
Physical…physiological.
Subtle.
Obvious.

And it’s never really the same each time.

Telling you exactly what happens *in* the session may not make sense until you actually experience it

But I’m happy to tell you what types of supportive tools and resources we have to make you so cozy you might fall asleep in the middle of the day

+ you + your subconscious + me

These sessions are a chance for your nervous system to take a chill pill and your emotional baggage to finally stop feeling so heavy.

It’s like a midday reset.
A lil nap attack.
Self care, if you need a more ‘legitimate’ label for tending to yourself during the day.

I wasn’t really taught how to experience emotions.
To hold feelings in my body when they surfaced.

I skipped right over that and went straight to the dome.
Up there, I could make sense of just about anything.

Turns out,
That’s a “coping mechanism”
A detrimental skill, if you will.

But I got really good at it.
And continued to be really bad at noticing what was happening in my body.

So with this perfected avoidance technique,
I rationalized the behavior.
Because of course it made logical sense,
So it couldn’t be an excuse.

But, turns out,
It was just an excuse.
An excuse to avoid the discomfort,
Of the unfamiliar sensations of emotions in my body
When I felt scared of failing at something.
Or being perceived as a failure.

Because at that time,
I couldn’t separate failing at something,
From me being a failure.
They were too intertwined.

But when you start to unravel things,
By noticing your thoughts and behaviors,
You can see your patterns in real time.

And then, you can start to change your thoughts about them,
And your actions,
And eventually unlearn the coping mechanism,
And catch yourself when you inevitably revisit it.

The perpetual student receives praise,
Because continuing to learn is usually seen as a good thing.

Education usually has some predictability to it.
There’s external rewards for your efforts.
You usually know what to expect,
You’ve figured out how to “win”

But what about the ‘shadow’ side of that?
When being a perpetual student is actually a coping mechanism?
No one really seems to talk about that.

It’s delaying the next step.
The taking action.
It’s risking rejection.
Vulnerability.

It’s providing this beautiful illusion of readiness,
Saying ‘one more credential, then I’m certain to be qualified enough to avoid failure.’

All of which keep us from taking the leap!

We’re avoiding the discomfort of the unknown.
Of the potential ‘proof’ that we aren’t enough as we are.
The trap that more knowledge equates to success,
And the safety that comes from never having to find out if that’s true.

Because avoiding the action steps,
Might help us avoid failure.
Or realizing that we’ve given all our power away to this idea that knowledge is everything,
And now we just know a bunch of stuff, theoretically,
But are too scared to apply it,
Because what if we learn that we still don’t know the things,
And people see that we’re so qualified,
But can’t actually use the information,
And that makes us question what the eff we’ve been spending so much time, money, and effort on…
If at the end, we’re too scared to use that knowledge in a tangible way.

So we avoid!
Well, some of us do.
In the name of the pursuit of knowledge.

And in the end,
We find out that we’ve just been suckered into
Productive Procrastination,
Because we were scared.
To fail.
To be seen.
To be vulnerable.
To give up control.

And all along,
We thought we were doing this so we could make a difference,
Change the world!

But we got in our own way,
And no one was touched by our gift this knowledge provided us.

Some people are born knowing what they want to do with their life.
I was not one of those people 😅

I relate more to a humming bird,
Flitting around to the things that interest me.
Blame it on being a Manifesting Generator,
Neurospicy,
Whatever.
That has remained a constant,
At least in my adult life.

From the moment I stepped into the fitness industry,
Everything I learned was in search of
Understanding me, better.

And I started noticing patterns in other people.
The “symptoms” were connected to something far deeper
Than a workout or more protein could fix.
People’s challenges in the gym were tied to so much more
Than just ‘being too busy.’

Simultaneously, I needed to understand my stuff.
I had a very complicated relationship to food.
To the gym.
To myself.
Being a fitness professional certainly brought that to the forefront.
I was deep into a binge-eating disorder,
Sprinkle some restriction and over-exercising on top,
Perfect recipe for all of the dysfunctions.

I eventually learned my trigger was a very specific emotion.
Disappointment.
Disappointment in myself.
In others. In the situation.
In unmet expectations.

And that discovery,
Seeing the connection in real time
-Disappointment. Tunnel Vision. Sugary snacks to the face.
That was the first step in my journey,
Of understanding me.
Why I behaved the way I did.

And everything since then,
Has helped me piece together the puzzle of Aubrey.

I LOVE to share the relevant things,
With anyone I work with.
Because I think many of us
Are truly
Just trying to find peace within ourselves.

Most people think of an identity crisis happening midlife,
You know, that “old guy” who just bought a new red sports car.

But what if it could happen sooner?
And not just to the dudes!

I’m certain at the young, ripe age of 28,
I entered an identity crisis.

There was a breakup.
I thought my heart “was broken.”
But when I sat with it, I really just understood,
For the first time, maybe
That I had no idea who the f**k I was.

I was a daughter.
A sister (but like, barely).
A friend.
An academic. An athlete.
A successful personal trainer.

But none of that really spoke about me,
On a deeper level.

When I started questioning things,
I realized that the job I was in had served its purpose.
So I decided to step away.

Like, as far away as possible.
The other side of the world, away.

So that I could get to know me,
Without all of the noise,
The assumptions, the roles, the familiarity.

And after 7 months,
I came back and re-entered the real world.
Where the struggle between the comfort of the familiar,
And the budding, new version of me wrestled.

Honestly, I don’t think a 6 month hiatus is the solution.
It was freaking awesome,
Don’t get me wrong,
But all of the work began AFTER I returned.
And has been a regular part of my life for the last 9 years.

It’s taken me a third of my life to learn who I am.
The real me.
The authentic me that makes decisions based on alignment,
Rather than chameleon-ing.
But I didn’t realize any of that until I entered that
Uncertainty around my identity,
And who I WANTED to be.

For many years,
I went looking for the darkness inside.
The icky s**t that I assumed had to exist,
Because I couldn’t understand how my internal world and external world felt so contradictory.

There was no external proof to validate how I was feeling internally.
And that just contributed to the confusion,
The shame.
There was no “if A then B”
But I felt B…and I was determined to find the A.

So, I learned a lot about myself.
And one take away was,
I did not develop the capacity to sit with uncomfortable things.
I learned to check out of my body, immediately
And pop into the wonderful space between my ears.

I had a nervous system that was always on alert,
That operated in a “high functioning” way,
But that was really just a diplomatic way of saying I was always hypervigilant and swung into functional freeze.

So I learned about these things.
Nervous system regulation.
Window of tolerance.
Started working to re-write some of the coping mechanisms.
I found a bottom-up, therapeutic approach to learn how to (re)inhabit my body.

And I still work on these things,
But I finally have a different mindset.

I work on these to optimize my life.
Not find what I thought was wrong with me.
Cause turns out,
I’m just a human,
Like you.
Doing my best, with the knowledge and resources I have

Fall is here in full swing.

It’s a great time to start preparing yourself for cooler weather, less light, and those potential winter blues.

Support the mind and body and see how it improves your mood & immunity!

So one thing I learned last week,
is that when someone asked what I did,
my tendency was to avoid answering directly and start with all the context.

I love context. And side-quests and tangents.

But when someone asks you what you do in your business,
You’re supposed to have a pretty consistent answer.

Now, I cover a large scope of things in my practice,
So sometimes it feels hard to define it.
So, short answer: optimize your health naturally.

But long answer - so many things!
And yet, I kept coming back to emotional release work.
Sometimes I refer to it as energy medicine - because that’s what umbrella it lives under.
Sometimes emotional release.
Sometimes subconscious reprogramming.
To me, it all means the same thing.

Because when I think about it,
My perspective,
Is that all of our health complaints can be traced back to a common denominator.
Undigested emotional experiences.

Sometimes we know what it’s from,
And most times, we don’t.
The best part is - it doesn’t matter if we know.
Because we don’t need to know.
We just need to see the pattern.
And I’m great at pattern recognition.
From there, we gently release the emotional attachments,
Give the body some time to integrate,
And start showing up differently in our lives,
Without really even trying.

Now, to be clear,
This is different from the somatic emotional release therapy that’s out there.
Once you’ve shared the session topic - you shift into a passive receiver.
I’m the one facilitating the communication with the subconscious
And interpreting what your body is telling me.

You’re not writhing on a massage table.
You’re probably in that stage of NSDR (non-sleep deep rest),
The state right before you drift off to sleep, where your body is heavy and rested,
But your mind is still on, still aware of what’s going on around you.

So circling back,
Are there times when someone’s health stuff isn’t related to something emotional?
Sure, and I’m happy to meet them there.
But if we want true change, we have to go deeper,
And that’s where the emotional release work really moves the needle.

Your ear holds the key to your entire body.

Stimulating certain ear points can change how you feel in real ways.

It’s fast, pain free, and a great alternative to some of the traditional alternatives out there
