Reflux babies can be tricky—and sometimes a few small changes during feeds can make a big difference. 🍼
As a pediatrician, I get so many questions from parents about reflux, spit-up, and how to make feeding a little more comfortable for their babies.
The good news? Reflux is incredibly common in infancy, and there are a few simple things you can try to help!
🍼 Pay attention to bottle flow. A ni**le that's too fast can cause babies to gulp and swallow more air. I love that Comotomo® Baby Bottle Gen 2 offers a slow-flow option to help support more controlled feeding.
💨 Look for anti-colic features. Comotomo's dual anti-colic vents are designed to help minimize air intake during feeds.
🤍 Keep baby upright. Hold your baby in an upright position during feeds and for about 20–30 minutes afterward. Always place baby flat on their back for sleep.
🍼 Take breaks to burp. Pausing throughout feeds can help release swallowed air and reduce discomfort.
👶 Watch your baby's cues. Sometimes smaller, more frequent feeds can help. Avoid pushing your baby to finish a bottle when they're showing signs of fullness.
And remember, while spit-up is common, symptoms like poor weight gain, feeding refusal, or forceful vomiting should always be discussed with your pediatrician.
Feeding a reflux baby can take some trial and error, but the right bottle + the right flow + following your baby's cues can go a long way. 🤍
