Excellence isn’t just about what we accomplish for ourselves. It’s about what we make possible for those coming after us.

During a home visit, a 22-year Navy veteran shared this powerful painting with me. Black history icons on horseback, in unity on the battlefield.

It made me think about how much of our history was built by people who chose to show up with courage, discipline, excellence, and a commitment to something bigger than themselves.

And that responsibility didn’t end with them.

We are standing on someone else’s sacrifice, perseverance, and example. Now it’s our turn to show up for our communities, pursue excellence in whatever we’ve been called to do, and create pathways that make the future better for the people coming behind us.

Excellence is not simply achievement.
Excellence is stewardship.
Excellence is service.
Excellence is legacy.

May we never become so focused on our own success that we forget to leave the door open for someone else.

Show up. Serve well. Build well. Leave something better behind. 🖤

How many people can you identify in the painting? Type them in the comments 😉

💛 LAST CALL: Enrollment closes TONIGHT at 11:59 PM!
Tomorrow at 12 PM EST, we begin our next Caregiver Coaching Program cohort—and there is still time for YOU to join us.

If you’ve been thinking:
“I know I need support, but…”
“Maybe I should wait until things calm down…”
“I should be able to figure this out on my own…”

Let me gently remind you:
You don't have to wait until you're overwhelmed to get support.
Caregiving is more than managing appointments, medications, and day-to-day needs. It can impact your health, your relationships, your work, your identity, and your ability to show up for yourself.
That's why I created this program.

Over 4 weekly group coaching sessions, we'll work together to help you:
✨ Build your caregiver toolkit
✨ Navigate important conversations before and after hospital/facility discharge
✨ Develop strategies for coping with the realities of caregiving
✨ Plan ahead for difficult transitions, including grief
✨ Identify and challenge limiting beliefs that may be making your caregiving journey harder than it needs to be
✨ Connect with other caregivers who get it

You'll also receive a Caregiver Resource Checklist and my exclusive guide, “Top 5 Post-Hospital Pitfalls & How to Avoid Them.”

It's an investment not only in how you care for your loved one—but in how you care for YOU. 💛
🕚 Enrollment closes TONIGHT at 11:59 PM EST.
🗓️ Our first session is TOMORROW at 12 PM EST.
If you've been on the fence, this is your invitation to stop waiting for the “perfect” time.

Still thinking about joining the Caregiver Coaching Program?

If you’ve been thinking about joining the Caregiver Coaching Program but haven’t quite decided yet, I wanted to personally reach out.

Maybe you’re wondering:

“Is this really for me?”
“Will I have the time?”
“What if my caregiving situation is too complicated?”
“Will this actually help?”

These are completely reasonable questions.

And I don’t want the enrollment deadline to create more pressure for you. My hope is that you’ll have the information and support you need to make the decision that feels right for you.

The Caregiver Coaching Program was created because caregiving can leave you feeling like you’re constantly reacting to the next crisis—while your own needs, health, and well-being get pushed further down the list.

Over four weeks, we’ll create space to step back, think differently about your caregiving journey, build practical tools, and learn strategies to help you navigate caregiving with greater confidence and intention.

Enrollment closes in 4 days.

If you’re on the fence, you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.

I’m opening the door for you to reach out directly with your questions. If you’d like to talk through the program, what’s included, or whether it’s a good fit for your situation, I’d be happy to connect with you.

Simply use this link and let me know you’d like to chat. Be sure to include your number.

You’ve already invested so much in caring for someone you love. I want you to know that investing in your ability to care for yourself while caring for them matters, too.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign that it’s okay to get support…

This is your invitation. 💛

💛 To the caregiver who is holding everything together (or not)… this is for you.

You didn’t plan to become a healthcare navigator.
You didn’t expect to be coordinating appointments, managing medications, advocating in hospitals, and still showing up for your own family and career.
Yet here you are — doing all of it.
Quietly. Bravely. Tiredly.

As a physician and someone who has walked alongside loved ones through stroke and Alzheimer’s, I know how isolating this role can feel. I also know this truth:
👉 You don’t have to do this alone.
👉 And you don’t have to burn out to prove you care.

I’m officially opening enrollment for my Caregiver Coaching Program — created for devoted caregivers who want better outcomes in mobility, function, and quality of life for their loved ones… without sacrificing themselves in the process.

Inside this program, you’ll gain:

✨ Clear guidance from a board-certified PM&R physician
✨ Practical strategies to improve mobility & daily function
✨ Support navigating the healthcare system with confidence
✨ A community that truly understands this journey
This is about helping your loved one thrive — and helping you breathe again.

🙅🏾‍♀️Mobility isn't something we start thinking about after an injury, a diagnosis, or retirement. It's something we build from childhood.
Watching young athletes challenge themselves through gymnastics, ninja obstacles, climbing, balancing, and falling safely is a reminder that every jump, crawl, swing, and landing is developing strength, coordination, confidence, and resilience. These are investments that can pay dividends for decades.

🧏‍♀️If you haven't been active, it's not too late! Mobility now, can help you recover more quickly from setbacks in the future!

👩🏾‍⚕️As a physiatrist, I spend much of my time helping older adults regain abilities they once took for granted. It has reinforced a simple truth: the body responds to what we consistently ask of it.
Whether you're raising children, caring for aging parents, or working to preserve your own independence, mobility matters at every stage of life.

👩‍👧‍👦For youth, the goal is to create adults who can continue to move with confidence, recover from setbacks, and enjoy the freedom that movement provides.

💶Movement today is an investment in independence tomorrow.

🏃‍♀️IF YOU'RE NOT MOVING YOU'RE LOSING!

😁Some of the most meaningful moments in medicine never happen in a clinic room.

🖼This past week, I met a skilled gardener for a home visit. He sent me home with fresh mint, fresh vegetables (featured in the pics), farm-fresh eggs, a fig tree, calalloo (Caribbeans know the deal), and young plants to begin expanding my own garden. As we stood together for a photo, his words came to mind...

"You teach me about my health, and I teach you about gardening," he said.

That simple exchange stayed with me.

I've had a garden before, but its harvest has always been modest. I've admired those who seem to have a true gift for cultivating an abundant garden, and this patient generously shared not only the fruits of his labor but also the knowledge to help mine grow.

It reminded me that God often answers the quiet desires of our hearts through people. We each carry gifts that someone else needs, and when we choose to share them instead of keeping them to ourselves, communities flourish.

"Freely you have received; freely give." — Matthew 10:8

This is one of the greatest parts of the Freedom Wellness Physiatry experience. It’s a shared experience. Yes, I come to educate, treat, and empower patients and their caregivers. But what many don't see is that I leave their homes having received something as well. I receive wisdom, perspective, laughter, stories, and reminders of what truly matters.

Patients often thank me for making a difference in their lives.

The truth is, they make a difference in mine.

Here's to building healthier communities where knowledge is shared, kindness is multiplied, and everyone leaves richer than they arrived. 🌱💚

Whether you're a caregiver learning to ask for help, a patient taking your first steps after illness, or a family facing a new chapter, fear is often part of the journey. But fear isn't always a stop sign. Sometimes it's evidence that you're stepping into something you've never done before.

Healing, recovery, and personal growth all require us to release what feels familiar—even when it's no longer serving us. The discomfort of change is temporary. The cost of remaining stuck can last much longer.

Today, choose one small step that your future self will thank you for. Progress isn't about never being afraid; it's about refusing to let fear make your decisions.

💛 What's one thing you've been putting off because it feels uncomfortable?

06/23/2026

Compassion is one of the greatest gifts a caregiver can offer—not because it changes every circumstance, but because it reminds those we care for that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

Yet true compassion must extend to ourselves as well. You cannot continually pour from an empty cup. Give yourself permission to rest, receive support, and extend the same grace to yourself that you so freely give to others.

Today, may you remember: your kindness matters, your presence matters, and even on the hardest days, the compassion you show leaves a lasting impact.

❤️ Tag a caregiver whose compassion inspires you.
