Getting into the Halloween spirit?

Cornstalks, crepe paper, and other decorations can catch fire easily. Keep them away from candles, light bulbs, heaters, and other heat sources.

And when it comes to lighting your jack-o'-lanterns, skip the real candles. Battery-operated candles or glow sticks are a safer choice!

🍂🧡 NATIONAL CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY AWARENESS 🧡🍂

🧥 Sweater weather is here, but bulky coats and car seats don’t mix! 🚗👶

Did you know that thick winter coats, snowsuits, and puffy jackets can put your child at risk in a car seat?

❄️ Why should you avoid bulky clothing in a car seat?

When a child wears a thick coat, the extra padding can compress during a crash, leaving dangerous slack between your child and the harness. Even if the straps seem snug over the coat, they may not be tight enough to properly protect your little one in a collision.

✅ Keep your little passengers safe this season!

🧡 Remove bulky coats before buckling your child into their car seat.

🧡 Make sure the harness fits snugly against your child’s body, following the car seat manufacturer’s instructions.

🧡 Once your child is securely buckled, place a blanket over the harness or put their coat on backward over their arms to keep them warm.

🧡 Always follow your car seat manufacturer’s guidance on clothing and harness fit.

Remember: Warm kids, snug straps, safer rides! ❤️

Let’s keep our little ones safe on every ride this fall and winter! 🍁

We all do our best to keep the car organized, but heavy bags, water bottles, laptops and toys have a way of piling up. In a crash, anything loose in the car can become a projectile. You can't always keep all objects home, but you may be able to rearrange some things in your car to keep them from flying in the event of a crash.

💜 OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH 💜

Domestic violence can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, background, or circumstances. It doesn’t always leave visible bruises. Abuse can be physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, or financial.

Let’s raise awareness, break the silence, and stand together to end domestic violence.

✨ How can you make a difference?
💜 Believe and support survivors without judgment.
💜 Learn the warning signs of abuse and unhealthy relationships.
💜 Share resources and information that can help someone find safety.
💜 Teach our children that love should never involve fear, control, or violence.
💜 Remind survivors that they are not alone and that abuse is never their fault.

🫶 To anyone experiencing domestic violence: You deserve to feel safe, respected, and loved. You are not alone, and help is available. Reaching out for support when it is safe to do so can be an important first step.

📞 Need help? The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7:

🫁 LET’S PREVENT THE SPREAD OF RESPIRATORY ILLNESSES! 🤧💙

As we head into respiratory illness season, it’s important to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities from illnesses such as influenza (flu), COVID-19, RSV, and the common cold.

✅ Here are some simple ways to stay healthy:
🧼 Wash your hands often with soap and water.
💉 Stay up to date on recommended vaccinations.
🤧 Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow.
🏠 Stay home when you’re sick to help prevent spreading illness.
🌬️ Improve ventilation and get fresh air when possible.
🚫 Avoid close contact with others who are sick.
🩺 Seek medical advice if symptoms worsen or you have difficulty breathing.

Know the symptoms! Common symptoms include coughing, sneezing, a runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, fever, chills, fatigue, and body aches. Symptoms can vary depending on the illness.
Remember: Young children, older adults, pregnant people, and individuals with certain underlying health conditions may be at higher risk for severe illness.

Our CHR team and environmental health teams coordinated a wonderful Breast Cancer Awareness walk today! We appreciate everyone who participated today.

Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. For many women, mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat. Mammograms can find cancer before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms.
