Protecting our school board needs constant vigilance…..

Sorry Fluffy, we know it can be too much!! If you've been following us for awhile, you know we've been through several incantations of what we call (hat tip Elizabeth Barrett) the Hate Slate. Usually led by Cindy Rose, who has thankfully hung up her hat but will appear in today's post, we've had to contend with a parade of hate-filled people who think they should occupy a seat on the school board....

We just had to share this article with you because this excerpt is particularly unhinged, even for the High Sheriff: While Jenkins criticized the policy changes, he saved most of his venom for Bickel, calling his perennial challenger a “treacherous prick.” Jenkins, who is 70, worked under Bickel’s command at the sheriff’s office during the 90s and considers him “devious.”

“I’m going to tell you what, man to man: I’d kick his ass, personally,” Jenkins told me. “Physically. I’d stomp his ass. Someday, he’s got an ass-kicking coming. I don’t like the son of a bitch. Personally, politically, he’s no good. He can read all the books he wants.”

Frederick County’s sheriff turned his office into a force multiplier for ICE before such collaboration became commonplace. As he again faces voters this year, the harm to immigrant communities is impossible to ignore.

Do Better….

Many of you probably remember back in 2021 when the local Republican party didn't vet their candidate for the office of mayor of Frederick City and they wound up with someone who served almost 18 months in prison. Because they didn't delve into the background of this guy, they ended up with a candidate who not only served time for assaulting his girlfriend, but who also was facing weapons charges....

What’s this here now?

Oh the receipts we have! If y'all have been with your Lady Yokels for awhile, you know that this blog was birthed out of an LTE that a very sore loser by the name of Blaine Young wrote when he lost his bid for County Executive 12 long years ago. We feel the need to quote it in its entirety, though you can certainly check for yourself…...

Let’s take a looky at these election results!

Right off the bat, we are going to pose and then answer our own question. How do we know that the Maryland Republican Party isn't a serious party? That right there is your answer. If you are new to Frederick or Maryland politics, we'll give a quick refresher on this one. However, if you already tired of reading, we can sum him up in one tweet:...

Let’s speculate wildly as to why three of “orange” ballot went rogue and left Heather Fletcher off this recent mailing! Wrong answers only please. 😂

We don’t want to encourage single issue voting, but recognizing that this is a real doozy we are confronted with, we wanted to pass this along since they’ve been diligent in tracking the details.

Edited to add: ***WORK IN PROGRESS*** Version 3 added (5/31/26, 7:30am). Incorporated more comments. Please let me know what you think, especially if I've got people in the wrong columns.

I'm trying to wrap my head around who we need to vote for in the upcoming elections, if we want to get rid of the Frederick County council members who think they work for the data center corporations. So I did some research and created this spreadsheet. It is a work in progress, and feedback and corrections are welcomed and encouraged. I plan on adding a column about campaign donations when I have time to dig into that. I used the Frederick News Post as my main source of information.
