Hope for Lives in Sierra Leone

Hope for Lives in Sierra Leone Hope for Lives was created to provide education and healthcare sustainability for the people of Sierra Leone. We are a 501(c)3 charitable organization.
(1)

Hope for Lives in Sierra Leone was started in 2011 by Thomas 'Bobby' Smith and Bill Coleman. Their first project was the construction of two fishing boats for a community in Murraytown, near Freetown. The two original boats help feed as many as 100 people with each weekly expedition. We recently added a new larger boat to add to the fleet in the memory of Bobby's good friend, Keith Henderson. In early 2013, Hope for Lives constructed a library at St. Anthony's Primary School. We also collect clothing, computers, tools and other goods for shipping to SL. Our primary beneficiaries are the St. Anthonys school, Connaught Hospital, the Murraytown fishing families and the amputee/paraplegic community.

Mission: Our mission is to empower the people of Sierra Leone with the skills, tools and education to improve their quality of life and reverse the cycle of poverty and death. Through our friends, donors and partners, we hope to build sustainable programs for providing food, shelter and medical assistance to make a difference in Sierra Leone.

Collaboration and Teamwork always makes the Dreamwork!!!!!
Hope for Lives in Sierra Leone and Global Friends sponsors two sundays of the Social work Hour on PalsAfrika online Television.

Hope for lives in Sierra Leone, a charitable organization established in 2011 to aid children in vulnerable communities, and also with its computer lab and library situated at the St. Anthony primary school for the boys that render free teaching and practical computer skills for boys and girls, collaborated with Global Friends, a U.S based organisation that raises awareness on breast cancer, donated to social workers in Sierra Leone in support towards the consistent feeding during these lockdown of the Coronavirus of their beneficiaries along the western urban district.

Social workers in Sierra Leone has been grateful during their sunday’s feeding and lockdown program for the homeless and mentally challenged persons introduced Hand Washing mechanism, where they are provided water and soap regularly to wash their hands regularly plus clothing and food packages. Again we want to say many thanks to Hope for Lives in Sierra Leone for their continuous support to Sierra Leone and especially now their support during these toughest times. DON’T GIVE UP!!!!!!!
Right now there are so many sadness around the world, but a little joy will always bring HOPE.
So many things are being cancelled and lockdown, but let's not forget:
Dreams are not cancelled. Compassion is not cancelled.
Kindness is not cancelled.
Love is not cancelled.
A better tomorrow is not cancelled.
Given is not cancelled.

Sadly In Sierra Leone, starting tomorrow, there’ll be another three days of lockdown from the Coronavirus.

So with the support and collaboration, Hope for Lives in Sierra Leone is doing the best we can, supporting 12 villages and over hundreds of people are going to be blessed.

We’re supporting places where there’s no chance of help from the government. Not only supporting these villages from the three days lockdown, but also providing them food for the entire Ramadan season.

For many years now with the collaboration and support from Dr Bailey and his wife Mrs Saffiatu Jalloh-Bailey, they have been generously supporting various villages.

Even with the crisis around the world and every nation having difficulties, there’re still few people in the world with a loving heart and giving spirit.

We also wants to give many thanks to our California friends and families 🙏🏾, Ms. Naomi, Dr. Ajayi, Yodit Bellow, Mr Jalloh, Ms. Conteh, Ms. Charlene, Ms. Jameelah, Ms. Lenese, Mr. Maningat, Dr. Majid, for their generous support, and many thanks to the organizers in Sierra Leone.

But we want to give a special thanks 🙏🏾 and shoutout to Ms. Sento Kamara and her team, especially during this time of the Coronavirus. With her organization skills they’ve risk their lives to bring a little joy to these families, at time this. The social distancing was very hard to do, she said, but they did the best they could.

She and the team in Sierra Leone travel with two minivans to various villages during the day and night distributing bags of rice, onions, Maggi and various other types of foods. Young and old, Women and Men, boys and girls were all blessed. We tried to accommodate every house hold on these various villages.

There was so much joy, dancing and prayers from these families. Man, I’m jealous though for not being there, but at the same time very thankful and very proud for the great work of Ms. Sento and her team. You evil Coronavirus I was supposed to be in Sierra Leone this month.

These are the names of the villages in Sierra Leone that was supported. They’re located In the Northern Province of Sierra Leone.

We all know some of us can’t afford much but some can. And for me, I’ll always make the effort to give the last penny I can afford especially when it comes to the human race and poverty. One thing I know, I’ll never want to be buried and gone and leave all my money in the bank while people are dying from starvation and hunger.
More importantly, you don’t have to know these people, JUST GIVE.

Please remember to continue your supports and donations. Whether small or large every donation and amount counts. Every penny goes directly to the people, and some more.

OCTOBER TO REMEMBER!!!

It's another amazing week and month, as October 11 was the International of the Girl child, and also a very important month for Breast Cancer awareness.

I am so proud of the girls in our Hope for Lives in Sierra Leone computer teaching and training program.
They have started with their new and first time practical computer classes, where they will be learning about the computer, it parts and use at such an early age, that will groom them to be empowered and ready for the 4th industrial revolution market in the coming years.

Their determination is unscripted and unstoppable, and this will definitely lead them to higher achievements for them to reach their goals (GIRLS POWER).

It’s time for the world to encourage the girls to pursue their dreams, boost and uplift their self-esteem and celebrate all their talents, and that's what we at Hope for Lives are doing with these amazing girls.

SAVING ONE CHILD AT A TIME AT HOPE FOR LIVES!!!

The beginning of the school year in Sierra Leone started about two weeks ago and it has been an incredible new beginning for majority of our students enrolled in our programs.

Our computer theory lectures started with great possibilities for our future generation, wherein computer literacy and digitalization is a fundamental tool in being a part of the new generation.

With the little resources we provide, we want to give God/Allah the praise, as the students are giving all they have and Hope for Lives will continue to provide the best we can afford.

The excitement will begin when they will be starting with their hand on the decks work during their practical at the computer lab.

The dream of Hope for Lives would not have been kept alive without our dedicated and passionate staff, who run the affairs of the organization so effortlessly, amidst the challenges we face, hence we say thanks and kudos to the Hope for Lives DREAM TEAM on the ground; Mr Patrick Smith, Mrs. Mary Tucker, Mr. Tamba Jimmy, Mr. Sahr Dumba and Mr. Thomas Messi Smith, for making this possible for our future generation.

SHOW US MERCY LORD!!
Another devastating sad news from my home land Sierra Leone. A severe deadly heavy rain fall flooded the city of Freetown destroying hundreds of houses.
And also, a massive fire broke out destroying several houses. Even with the heavy rainfall houses were burned down to the ground.
Please lift Sierra Leone and the people affected in your prayers.

ONE PERSON AT A TIME!!!
What it takes to make a difference in the world is just one small little action to help one person at a time.
Every day we all have that opportunity to make a difference. But there’s so many problems that are going on around the world and it’s hard not to think of how much of a difference can you really make. Unfortunately we’re always thinking and debating to ourselves on how is my one small action actually going to change anything. But remember, what’s important is that you don’t need to solve the worlds problems, you don’t need to solve the countries problem or even your City, but if you just focus on helping to solve one person’s problem, to make even a small difference in just one person’s life, to that one person it could mean the world. So remember, everyday you woke up and heading for work, or going to school, or out there going somewhere to do something, if you can just make one person smile, laugh or feel loved and treat them with kindness and respect then you have made a difference.
I know some of us travel far and beyond to make a difference, but it doesn’t have to always be like that because you could just go around your street corner and make a difference.

All HANDS ON DECK AT HOPE FOR LIVES IN SIERRA LEONE!!!
It's just so beautiful seeing our future generation engrossed in learning computer
skills in this technological era.
Seeing the hard work, collaboration and team work of these wonderful kids trying
to do the best they can to achieve their goals has been an amazing sight.
Even though for majority of them this is their very first time in front of a computer,
they've been studying and working really hard during their theory classes.
The past weeks has been all hard work, from their theory classes and now hands
on deck in the lab for practical.

Togetherness is what all this is all about, to build our future generation in a robust
and empowered manner, that will leave the younger generation, informed,
marketable and above all independent.

Thanks to Mr Andrew Conteh, Patrick Smith, Tamba Jimmy, Miss Mary, Sahr,
Thomas, and the Hope for Lives Team.
No talk but actions, no criticism but believes, No political agendas but
togetherness!!!!!!!!

All of these are FREE because our kids have the RIGHT to FREE EDUCATION!!!!

Very sad news last night. Sierra Leone.
Part of My neighborhood in Freetown, where I was born and raised, caught on fire 🔥 last night. Kroo Bay community. Over 100 houses were burned down to ashes taking along all belongings and properties. Over a thousand people are now without homes with nowhere else to go. Fortunately no lives were lost.
Please remember the people of Kroo Bay in your prayers. 🙏🏿 🙏🏿 🙏🏿!!!!!
Unfortunately, because of lack of resources, when stuff like this happens you only pray and hope for the best, for we’re still behind when it comes to the fire department for help. God have Mercy on us.

The President of Sierra Leone visit to Saint Anthony School!!

Earlier this week, President of the Republic Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio in his free education plight did a tour at the Saint Anthony School for the boys in Freetown alongside the Minister of basic education.

It was a profound privilege during their visit to have the minister of basic education visit Hope for Lives computer lab and library and due to his satisfactory compliment of the lab, suggested a collaborative idea for Hope For Lives and the government of Sierra Leone to help teach teachers from other schools with computer skills.

As you all already know, Hope For Lives has been providing free efforts to the educational and health system for the past years in Sierra Leone and at Saint Anthony school we were able to build a computer lab and library for the school children.

With the free education program launched by the president, it has been a win-win situation for organizations like us and we look forward to giving our unflinching support to the government of Sierra Leone through the ministry of basic education in the free education agenda for all children in Sierra Leone, as they are our priority.
For the record our beloved country comes first when it comes to Hope for Lives in Sierra Leone priorities. We're a non governmental organization. There's no affiliation with no party, but the people of Sierra Leone. We will always work with any of the government as long as they have the hearts for the future of children. REMEMBER TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAMWORK!!
