*What are weighted blankets and what are they used for? If you don't know about weight blankets they are beneficial for those with autism, Rett syndrome, ADHD, ADD, PTSD, restless leg syndrome, anxiety, sleep disorders, Asperger's syndrome, Parkinson's disease, and many more conditions. They are often used as a calming and/or concentration tool. (But while great success is often seen, please note these blankets are not guaranteed for every individual :) ) *How much weight should I order? Most therapist recommend the weight of the blanket should be 10% of the user's weight. For example, if the user weighs 55lbs, the blanket should be around 6.5lbs-7lbs. *What is the age range that can use these blankets? They're great for people of all ages-BUT obviously, they should NOT be used for children under 2 yrs of age-or anyone other individual that may struggle to move out from underneath one! *What is used for the inside of the blankets? I use plastic poly pellets(for the weight) and also add poly-fil to add some "cushion". You can always ask that the poly-fil be left out. *What blanket is the right size for me? That is also up to you! I make lap blankets(approx 12"x18"), toddler/child size blankets, and adult blankets(or anywhere in between!) Small blankets are about the size of a standard toddler blanket(34"x50"). Small blankets are good for children until they're about 4-5 years old. Anyone over 5'5 should go with an adult sized blanket! Adult blankets can range from 38"x62" to maybe 72". *How big of a blanket should I order? Weighted blankets are made to fit the BODY, not the BED, the blanket should lay on the user without it hanging off the sides of the bed--because if it did, you would be fighting the blanket all night from falling off your bed! *How do I wash my blanket? Machine wash separately in warm or cold water. Tumble dry low. Do NOT iron, and do NOT microwave! If your blanket has bright colors that may run--wash the first time in cold water with 1 cup salt to set the colors. For flannel fabrics-you can add a fabric softener, or 1 cup of white vinegar during rinsing to help soften the flannel and to help remove piling. *What types of payments do you take? I currently take paypal, cash, and debit. Sorry, no personal checks at this time! *How long does it take you to make a blanket? I can usually get them out pretty quick. Usually in around 2-3 days, maybe 1 week tops depending on fabric and material availability. Please keep in mind that I do work full time, and have 3 little ones at home, but I do keep in touch with my customers when there is any possible delay! *Where do you get your materials, and what type of material do you use? I buy what I can, when I can from Joann's and other local fabric businesses. So I'm usually getting regular shipments. As I've stated above, I do keep the customers in the loop through facebook/texting/email about the status of their orders. I use flannel, minky fabric, and fleece as those fabrics hold up better with washing and use. As always, if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask!
