It’s not too late to get the flu vaccine! Around 80% of all flu cases occur in January, February, and March. Children 6 months of age and up should get the flu vaccine to reduce their risk. Influenza is a trigger for asthma exacerbation which can lead to hospitalization.
September is a challenging month for children with asthma. Clinical studies show what parents have known all along: Asthma flares and hospitalizations tend to spike in the first few weeks that children are back at school.
Metered dose inhalers for (example Albuterol) can explode when stored in temperatures over 120°, for example in your car.
In moderately high temperatures, they deliver less of the chemical than when they are stored at room temperature.
Store your inhaler in your pocket, purse or backpack so you can keep it cool indoors this summer & have it readily available if needed!
