Lime (Distilled) Oil -Mexico
Essential Oil - Pure & Natural
In stock

There are two different types of lime oil production, expressed and distilled. There are also two main types of lime and several sub-varieties, but only one lime has any importance in the lime oil industry: the so-called sour lime, also known as the Mexican Lime or West Indian Lime, obtained from the small tree Citrus Aurantifolia. The sweeter type of lime, another variety of Citrus Aurantifolia, is used only rarely for the production of essential oil. Distilled Lime oil has a sharp, fresh, terpene-like, somewhat perfumery-fruity, citrus-type odor. The oil is very volatile (poor tenacity), but shows increasing sweetness on drying out, the notes becoming more orange-like, less lemon-like. The general impression is that the odor is reminiscent of the odor of fresh limes cut in half and squeezed.

Benzoin Absolute (Resin) -Siam
In Stock

Benzoin Siam is a natural gum-resin or more aptly a ‘balsamic resin’. It is obtained from a small tree called Styrax Tonkinensis. The resin is obtained from a latex that the tree makes when the bark is wounded. The milky latex solidifies when oxidized and exposed to the natural elements, thus forming the semi-solid Resin collected for use. The hard and brittle resin becomes a yellow-reddish or orange colored to pale brown. The ‘Siam’ nomenclature is usually derived from the trade route (export) through Siam (Thailand). The odor is pleasant, sweet balsamic with a distinct note of Vanillin. Benzoin is often used as a fixative in fine perfumery, in colognes, for ‘prefixation’ prior to the preparations of colognes and lotions etc.

ALDEHYDE C-18 (Gamma-Nonalactone)(Coconut) is a base note in the Gourmand (coconut) family with a lactonic odor profile of; Coconut, fruit, creamy, waxy, sweet, buttery, oily, as well as lactonic & coumarin facets.
I find it difficult to not quote or source Steffen Arctander for reference on this material (& all others) as his works were extensive, informational & a main resource for learning materials. Again, I couldn’t make a higher recommendation, as he cites this material as being one of the most frequently used lactones in perfumery (& flavors). Its range of application extends from simple uses as a masking agent to the other end of the spectrum and used in some finest luxury perfume fragrances in the world. Its used in the creation of Gardenia to Coconut candy flavors. It has an “intense sweetness and and tenacity is often utilized along with that of Undecanolide (so-called Aldehyde C-14) in Gardenia, Tuberose, Honeysuckle, Stephanotis, Plumeria, Jasmin and many other heavy floral types.” Arctander reports along with additional insights on this material. He goes onto say that in modern fantasy perfumes focused on musk & lactones might include Aldehyde C-18 and receive unusual fixative effects with an overwhelming sweetness as well as “novel versions of Oriental fragrance types can be made with Sandalwood, Styrax & Aldehyde C-18 (Gamma-Nonalactone)”. He also cautions inexperienced perfumers of its power as this lactone can ‘grow’ out of the perfume and “unpleasantly dominate the fragrance.”

It blends very well with Aldehyde C-18/Nonalactone (Coconut) to create the creamy/lactonic elements found in Gardenia and Tuberose Accords
