We need support from lease sign to stop bill HB1802.
Last week I wrote to you about an interesting discussion we had with Pennsylvania legislators, staff, and seventeen additional stakeholders regarding HB 1802. Recall that this legislation would require a license to talk about food, diet, weight loss, and nutrition, and that only a Registered Dietitian, and a very small number of Nutritionists, would qualify for.
The restrictions are so broad, and the bill so bloated, that one staff member called the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics out directly by saying this bill seeks to "trim the fat" of their competition. Worse, it would "medicalize" everything to do with food, diet, and weight loss.
With our call last week there was hope the Academy got the message, but it looks like they are still pushing ahead. Thus we must fight back to defend your rights.
In the middle of a crisis the last thing we need is something that kills jobs, destroys careers, and does absolutely ZERO to help improve lives.
Tell policymakers to vote NO on HB 1802, and not let a private trade group monopolize food, diet, weight loss, and nutrition advice.
Thank you very much,

Whether there will be a baby-boom due to the coronavirus pandemic or not, one thing is clear: many countries stand out for their lack of access to midwives. Here is why it matters - and not just during COVID-19.
These intimate photos capture one New Yorker's emotional delivery amidst a pandemic
Beautiful and so powerful 💕
This photo gave me chills.
Dr Michelle Wan is an ER doctor saving lives during this global pandemic.
“The unchartered waters of this global pandemic are overwhelming and at times, I feel discouraged.
Then I see this picture of my daughter, and I feel strong. I gave her life and still, I am sustaining her life. She helps me see my power.
I am powerful because daily, I am saving lives in the ER. In the next moment, I remove my white coat and scrubs, walk into my home, shower the stress, sadness, and debris of my ER shift off of my body, slip into my other set of powers and breastfeed this growing, beautiful little human. Our cuddles are the best. It puts my workday into perspective. Her smile makes this exhausted mommy keep going.
To my fellow front line Moms who can’t stay home because you are essential: I know how you are feeling right now. I see you, I acknowledge you, and I’m rooting for you. We will make it through this, together. To everyone who is able, please continue to stay home. We are all in this together.”

Homebirth just might be the answer to staying home and safe during this pandemic.
However, as a midwife working in Toronto for over 20 years, I can also speak about another important lesson learned during SARS that is often forgotten...
You are strong!

So true 💕
A mother is theonly person who carries you for 9 months in her belly, 3 years in her arms, and forever in her heart. My Mother is the most beautiful woman in the world. I love you Mama. Mothers don't give up on their kids for taking the wrong roads. They just keep praying there's.a
This is a great tip 😊
"Some women are telling me that they are getting 2-3 times more milk when they remove themselves mentally from the result of their pumping session! We know that oxytocin release is inhibited by stress, and oxytocin release is required for letdowns, so if you find you are getting stressed while watching, try it! ❤️" Source: Milk and Motherhood

ANN ARBOR—A new study found that water births are no more risky than land births, and that women in the water group sustain fewer first and second-degree tears. University of Michigan researchers analyzed 397 waterbirths and 2025 land births from two midwifery practices. There were no differences
This is a major goal of mine! Reducing the fear and anxiety in our cultural surrounding birth.
