For more than 30 years, CalFresh Healthy Living, University of California has proudly partnered with communities across California to advance nutrition education, health equity, gardening, and wellness. Due to the elimination of federal SNAP-Ed funding, our program will formally close on September 30, 2026.

Here in Alameda County, we have had the honor of working alongside many incredible community partners for decades — some for nearly 24 years. While this loss is truly devastating for our communities, we also recognize the tremendous and lasting impact we have created together.

We cannot thank our partners enough for your unwavering dedication, passion, and commitment to the communities you serve each day — from preschool children and families to senior residents across Oakland and Alameda County. Your hard work, care, and belief in this mission have helped transform lives, strengthen communities, and create healthier, more connected spaces for learning and wellness. It has been an absolute privilege to work beside you and carry this work forward together over the years.

While this transition brings significant change, we remain deeply committed to supporting you and our communities through these final months by continuing programming where possible, strengthening sustainability through trainings and partnerships, and making many of our educational resources publicly available for continued use.

We are profoundly grateful for the relationships, collaboration, trust, and shared purpose we have built together over the years. Thank you for standing with us in this work and for your continued commitment to creating healthier, stronger communities.

Thank you for ALL you do!

With gratitude, the CalFresh Healthy Living, UCCE Alameda team.

Cauliflower is a highly nutritious, low-calorie, and low-carb cruciferous vegetable packed with fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants. One cup provides over 75% of your daily vitamin C needs, along with Vitamin K, folate, and choline. The fiber content promotes a healthy digestive system, while certain compounds support liver function and detoxification.
Cauliflower is versatile and can be used as a low-carb substitute for rice, pizza crust, mashed potatoes, or roasted as a side dish. While raw cauliflower provides the most antioxidants, cooking it can make it easier to digest. Yum! Let's try some!
