🔥 BARGAINING UPDATE: MANAGEMENT WANTS A FEDERAL MEDIATOR
Management has asked to bring in a federal mediator to help with our contract negotiations.
So what does that mean?
A federal mediator is a neutral third party who helps both sides communicate and try to reach an agreement. They don’t work for management, they don’t work for ONA, and they don’t get to decide what our contract looks like.
And honestly? We think this could be a good thing. 💚
We have been at this bargaining table for months. We have come prepared, we have made serious proposals, and we have repeatedly shown that we are willing to work toward a fair agreement.
But we can’t negotiate a contract by ourselves.
Management has continued to resist meeting nurses where we need them to be on the issues that matter most — fair wages, PTO, benefits, retention, and working conditions.
Now, we have an opportunity for a neutral third party to hear BOTH sides and understand why nurses are fighting for these things.
We want that mediator to hear directly about the reality nurses are facing. We want them to understand why nurses are asking for a contract that will retain experienced nurses, attract new nurses, and show the people who keep this hospital running that they are valued.
We aren’t asking for something unreasonable.
We are asking management to invest in the nurses they say they want to retain.
This is another step in the process — and we are going into it united, organized, and ready to fight for a fair contract.
We’ve already shown management what happens when nurses stand together. Now we keep showing up, keep speaking up, and keep holding the line.
Management has a choice: continue refusing to move, or finally meet nurses at the table with the fair contract we deserve.
💚 United nurses. Stronger contract. Stronger HMC.
