Why come all the way to Hood River for this? Because leaving matters. This is Gorge country: the river running wide below town, wind pulling sailboarders and kiteboarders out onto the water most afternoons, and Mount Hood holding snow on the ridge behind it even in September. Fruit stands are already out along the highway with the first apples. A different town, a different pace, a couple of days that aren’t your normal days. The distance is the point.

"An analysis of the 2024 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) data revealed that 2.8% of participating Americans aged 12 years or older reported using psilocybin in the past year. When generalized to the full population of the U.S., this corresponds to approximately 8 million individuals. Young adults and men were more likely to have used psilocybin, while women and individuals aged 50 years or older were less likely to use it. We've seen the radical changes that psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) can make in people with addictions. This latest study out of the University of Alabama - Birmingham (UAB) reinforces our belief that this type of treatment, coupled with traditional talk therapy and other types of mental health support, can be a helpful tool to break the cycle of addiction.
