Hey y'all, if you're new here, I'm Brooke! 🌱

I'm a health coach/mentor, an author, the founder of Mustard Seed Health & Healing, and the creator of Rooted Together, a faith-based health and wellness program for mothers and daughters.

Now you know a few of my quirks (and yes, the chip girlie thing is real), but here's the heart behind all of it: I want to help women care for the bodies God gave them without the guilt, the pressure, or the lies we've been told about our worth. I'm not here as someone who has it all figured out. I'm a recovering perfectionist who is still learning, and I'd love for you to learn right alongside me.

Here, we talk about nourishment over restriction, grace over perfection, and a God who meets us in every season, including the hard ones, usually with an iced latte in hand. 🤭

So tell me, which one of these do you relate to most? I'd love to get to know you too!

As Su***de Prevention Month comes to an end, I wanted to share something close to my heart. Losing Austin to su***de changed me forever. In this blog, I'm being honest about the grief, the dark thoughts that followed and sometimes still try to visit, and how God meets me there with patience instead of shame, just like He did with Elijah.

If you've ever walked through this kind of loss or felt like there was no way out, I hope you know you're not alone. šŸ¤

If you're struggling, please call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Losing Austin to su***de changed me forever. This is my honest story of grief, the thoughts no one talks about, and the God who meets us in the darkest places with patience instead of shame.

I care so much about what I do because of what God has placed on my heart. šŸ¤

Younger me didn’t know that God sees her, knows her intimately, and loves her more than anything, even when she messes up, makes the wrong choice, isn’t as kind as she should be, or worries instead of trusting Him.

I don’t have to look to anyone else because I can go to the One who sees my heart, mind, and soul.

In Genesis 16, Hagar is alone in the wilderness, overlooked and hurting, and God meets her there. She gives Him a name no one else in Scripture does: El Roi.

ā€œYou are the God who sees me.ā€ — Genesis 16:13

Sometimes we feel just like Hagar, and I don’t want any woman or young girl to believe that God doesn’t see her or know her.

Because He does, He sees you.

What I used to want vs. what I really want. 🌱

For so long, I thought I just wanted the surface-level things. But underneath every "I just want" was something deeper: a longing for truth, for freedom, and for the life God designed us to live.

I'm still unlearning so much of what society has told us, and that's exactly why my heart is in Mustard Seed Health & Healing and Rooted Together. I want women and daughters to hear the truth I wish I'd known sooner.

Disappointing people is not something I like to do, especially as a recovering people pleaser. I often feel like I shouldn't disappoint people, that I need to be good, that I need to keep the peace, and not let anyone down. But can I just say how incredibly exhausting that is?

You know what gives me hope, even though I may disappoint people? Jesus disappointed people too, but He did what God was calling Him to do. That can be really difficult. God can call us to let go of things, leave when we want to stay, and so much more.

He called Abraham to leave his home and family for a place he didn't even know yet. He called Peter to leave his nets, his whole livelihood, on the spot. He called Ruth to leave her home country and people behind. And Jesus Himself left crowds of people who wanted Him to stay, because God had somewhere else for Him to be.

Who are you afraid of disappointing right now? Tell me below if you feel comfortable enough to share. šŸ¤

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the movement itself.

It’s choosing to get up, putting on your shoes and taking the first step.

We often know what we need to do, but our feelings can get in the way.

I don’t feel like it.
I’ll do it tomorrow.
I’m too tired today.

I’m learning that caring for my body means sometimes setting those feelings aside and choosing what I know is good for me. Because trust me, I try to talk myself out of things sometimes too. šŸ˜…

And that doesn’t always mean a hard workout.Sometimes it looks like walking a mile in the morning and another mile in the evening. Sometimes it’s stretching, playing outside with my kids, or simply getting up and moving when I’ve been sitting too long.

It’s not about doing more or doing it perfectly. It’s about recognizing that this body is a gift and choosing to care for it.

Moving from ā€œI don’t want toā€ to "Thank you, Lord, I get to.ā€

I get to move.
I get to care for my body.
I get to honor what God has entrusted to me.

So lace up your shoes. Take the walk. Start where you are.

Honoring Your Body Through Movement is the 3rd Pillar in Rooted Together, a faith-based health and wellness program designed for moms and daughters to grow in healthier habits—together.

One of the things I love most about hosting an event is putting together the spread ✨

I’m a foodie at heart, and one of my favorite things to create is a charcuterie board — I think it’s because there are so many ways to get creative with it and change it up depending on who you’re hosting.

I love gathering people and having the opportunity to make connections. At the end of the day, it’s never really just about the food or the pretty details.

It’s about making room for people, bringing them together, and loving them well. šŸ¤

Three years ago, I moved to Austin and, in a lot of ways, started a new chapter on my own, which I never planned.

It’s been an adventure—one that has taught me more about myself, life, and what it really means to grow, while giving me a much clearer picture of the life I want to live.

These are 30 things I’ve learned and honestly, am still learning and still putting into practice.

What a journey it’s been: unlearning, healing, drawing closer to God, learning more about myself, and becoming more aware of who He’s calling me to be.

It’s hard. Some of these are genuinely hard to live out. But I’m learning that life keeps moving, and there’s always more to learn, see differently, and to experience.

Which one do you need today? šŸ¤

Change makes me a little sick. Not in a dramatic way, just that real, physical, stomach drop feeling when something shows up that wasn't part of the plan, even when I know it's God leading me.

I'm walking through that right now. I'm moving, and it's brought up more than I expected. Turns out most of what I was afraid of wasn't the move at all. It was facing an old version of myself I'm not anymore.

New blog post is up! šŸ¤ I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to read these. Writing them is a therapeutic way for me to make sense of what's going on in my head and just get it out, even when it may not make sense.

I wish someone had told me change doesn't get easier as you get older, because it still makes me a little sick to my stomach. Right now that's moving back to Houston after three and a half years in Austin, and having to face that most of my fear isn't about the move at all. It's about who I used to
