There is no prize for doing postpartum the hardest way.

If breastfeeding is difficult, ask for help.
If pumping feels overwhelming, ask for help.
If recovery isn't going how you expected, ask for help.
If you don't understand what's happening with your body or baby, ask.
And don't forget your mental health.

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, hopeless, or unlike yourself can be a sign that you need additional support. Reaching out early can help you get the care you deserve.

🌸 Support isn't a sign that you're struggling. Support is part of care.

A stat that should be on every birth worker's wall. 🧠

60% of autistic mothers experience postpartum depression.

The general rate is around 12%.

That five-times difference is not biology. It is the gap between the support neurodivergent parents need and the support most birth rooms know how to give.

This is exactly why Neuro Spicy Birth exists.

If you are pregnant and neurodivergent, your birth plan needs four things most plans do not have:

✨ A sensory plan
✨ A communication plan for when verbal speech becomes hard
✨ A trigger list
✨ A team that has been trained, not just told

DM "NEURO" if you want it personalized to your pregnancy. 💜

🕯️ A Wave of Light: Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Ceremony

Some lives are measured in years. Others in weeks, days, hours, or moments but every life leaves an imprint. 🤍

On October 15th, Midwest Sister Circle invites families and our community to join us for A Wave of Light, an evening dedicated to honoring and remembering babies gone too soon.

Together, we will pause, say their names, light candles in their memory, and hold space for the love and grief that continues long after loss.

📅 October 15, 2026
⏰ 5:30 PM
📍 Polk Stables
1533 Lewis Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202

The evening will include light refreshments, a candle-lighting ceremony, and remembrance bags for families to take home.

✨ This event is FREE and open to the community. Please register on our site!

Whether your loss was recent or many years ago, your baby is remembered. Your grief still matters. And there is space for you here. 🕯️🤍

We are incredibly grateful to Polk Stables and Sprowl Funeral & Cremation Care for sponsoring A Wave of Light and helping us create a meaningful space where families can honor, remember, and say the names of the babies they carry with them every day.

At IMBC, we are focused on developing our members by enhancing their skillset and familiarity with local resources.

At our August meeting, Joya Wade, fertility doula and women's holistic health advocate, came to share her expertise with our birthworkers. This included what a fertility doulas role is, how to properly look up herb usage and their contraindications, and shared her peristeaming services with us.

As birthworkers, it's important to know resources that can help families beyond (or before) pregnancy and postpartum.

Thank you Joya Wade of for taking the time to speak to IMBC!

September is NICU Awareness Month 💚

This month, we’re honoring the tiny babies who showed us just how strong they could be, the parents and families who navigated days, weeks, and sometimes months of uncertainty, and the birthworkers and healthcare providers who stood beside them along the way.

A NICU journey can hold so many emotions at once—fear, hope, grief, joy, exhaustion, gratitude, and everything in between. And sometimes, the support a family needs doesn’t end when they leave the NICU.

For families who have experienced a NICU stay, you are not alone. Your experience matters. Your feelings are valid. And you deserve support, both during your NICU journey and after you come home 🤍

This month, let’s do more than raise awareness. Let’s learn how to show up for NICU families with compassion, understanding, and meaningful support.

Swipe for a few ways you can support a NICU family!

To every NICU parent, baby, sibling, grandparent, and loved one: We see you. We honor your journey. We’re holding space for you.**

🤎 Happy Black Breastfeeding Week! 🤎

Here’s to honoring Black breastfeeding stories, uplifting Black families, and creating spaces where every Black parent feels seen, supported, and empowered to reach their feeding goals.

We also recognize the community that makes breastfeeding possible. The breastfeeding consultants, lactation counselors, doulas, family, friends, and culturally affirming care providers who remind Black parents:

You don’t have to do this alone. 🤎

This week, we celebrate the parents, the babies, the villages, and the collective care that helps Black families thrive.
