Here is a tool to support you if distressed or feeling overwhelmed or short of breath. This is discrete as it just uses your hands, and can be said silently to yourself, and does not require touching the face, like most EFT (emotional freedom technique) sequences include.

Constricted breathing technique (rapid, don’t have to touch face, wash hands, clean gloves)

Rate your deep breath (take 3 breaths extending the back of the base of the lungs to the top of the hips, rate how FULL your breath is of 10 (10 full breath)

Can tap this on side of hand once if desired (one repetition) to state all the phrases below as a “setup”

Then tap the whole thing on the lung meridian (medial aspect of thumb nail bed) (can do 2-3 repetitions of all the phrases, then reassess). Remember, tap the whole time you are stating the phrases.

“Even though I have this constricted breathing

And it is a ___/10

And it makes me feel like I can’t get a full breath

And I can’t get all my air out

And it feels like ___________(wheezy, fire, burning, tight, gunky whatever)

And I am afraid (about Asthma, Virus, hospital, death, etc.)

I deeply, completely, and unconditionally, love and accept myself”

Or
I love my lungs, I support every cell of my immune system, and we are going to crush this problem/virus/asthma, etc.!”

Or
I lovingly allow joy to flow freely in my life. I love ME! I freely take in Divine ideas that are filled with the breath and the intelligence of life. This is a new moment.” (from Louise Hay’s Heal Your Body)

REPEAT 2-3 times, reassess your number.

If fullness of breath not improving, amp it up with the 9 Gamut between sets:

9 GAMUT: Tap back of hand (between ring and pinkie finger tendons) while you: Open eyes, close eyes, shift eyes only down to hard right, look forward, shift eyes only down to hard left, follow the frame of something in front of you clockwise and counterclockwise – slowly, don’t skip ahead, hum a few random notes, do math that is not ROTE (subtract from 15 by 3’s, 11 by 2’s), hum a few more notes.

Keep repeating as needed.
