A great educational piece from Iowa Eye alumnus, Dr. Matt Weed, answering the popular question “What is astigmatism?”.

Rarely does a day in clinic go by without a parent asking me "What is astigmatism?" We've all heard of this word. Many of us don't know what it means. So I figured I would right about it in layman's terms.

WARNING: after reading this short article, you will know more about astigmatism than 95% of your friends

Dr. Keith Carter recently received an engraved "college chair" from the American Academy of Ophthalmology as a thank you for his service on the Academy Board. Dr. Carter served as the AAO President in 2018.

It is an American Academy of Ophthalmology tradition to give past presidents a "college chair" engraved with the AAO logo and their name, as a thank you for their service on the Academy board. This is a tradition that started with universities and was adopted by the Academy many years ago (which is why it is called a college chair). Congratulations, Dr. Keith Carter!
