Hi everyone! Today, we want to introduce you to the CPHGSA:
“We hope your spring semester has been off to a great start! The College of Public Health Graduate Student Association (CPHSA) is looking forward to another semester of connecting with our fellow students. We’re also excited to announce that elections for next year’s representatives will happen in March. We encourage anyone who is interested to apply and will provide more information via email in the coming weeks. As always, please reach out to any officers (meet us below!) if you have questions, ideas, or ways we can support you.
President: Monica Ahrens
Monica Ahrens is a fifth year Biostatistics PhD Student. She has a BS in mathematics from the University of Iowa. She is currently working on developing methods for Survival Data Analysis in addition to teaching Introduction to Biostatistics. This is Monica’s third year as a member or CPHGSA, and she is looking forward to continuing her service to the student body again.
Vice President: Austin Wu
Austin Wu is a second-year MPH in Policy student here at the College of Public Health. In addition to his academic activities, he also serves as an at-large commissioner on the Iowa City Historic Preservation Commission. In his free time, he enjoys folk music, bicycling, and breakfast food.
Vice President: Anna Correa
Anna Correa is an Undergrad to Grad student in the Community and Behavioral Health MPH program. Anna serves as the President of Iowa Agni (a South Asian a capella group on campus), a student representative on the University Lecture Committee, and a voting ambassador with Hawk the Vote. She enjoys cooking, people, and KenKen puzzles.
Vice President: Leighton Hill
Leighton Hill is a second-year MPH in Epidemiology student in the College of Public Health. She is looking forward to serving on CPHGSA and helping to connect students across departments. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, and listening to music.
Treasurer: Eldon Sorensen
Eldon Sorensen is a second-year MS student in Biostatistics here at the College of Public Health. He is new to student government but is looking forward to working with everyone. In his free time, he enjoys running and playing video games and card games.
Communications/Web master: Nick D’Antonio
Nick D’Antonio is a second year MS student in Industrial Hygiene under the department of Occupational Environmental Health. I’m looking forward to the school year and hope we can improve student life where possible. In his free time, he enjoy playing sports, reading, and fishing.”
