Rattlesnake season came early this year. π Here's what you need to know BEFORE your next walk or hike β¬οΈ
Warmer weather = rattlesnakes being more active than usual on local trails and open spaces.
π¨ If you or someone is bitten:
-Call 911 IMMEDIATELY. Stay calm, don't run. β οΈ
-Remove watches, rings, or anything that may restrict swelling.
-Do not apply ice, cut the wound, or attempt to suck out venom. β
- A rattlesnake bite is a medical emergency where every minute matters. If you're near our Irvine or Laguna Hills locations, come in right away. π
π Where to watch out:
Tall grass, weeds, heavy underbrush, and around rocks, logs, and stumps NBC Los Angeles are prime spots. Stay on well-used, marked trails whenever possible. π±
πΆ If you see one:
Remain calm, stay motionless, keep your eyes on the snake, and back away slowly. Keep at least 6 feet of distance and never try to handle it.
Stay safe out there!
