Good Afternoon Volunteers,

On behalf of everyone at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, I would like to wish each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving! You are all very special to me, and I am so thankful from the bottom of my heart for the work you do each and every day for our patients, families and employees. Although the last 18 months have been challenging, we sincerely appreciate your dedication to serving EJCH and making it one of the best hospitals in the region. You are a vital part of the EJCH family and your work is very meaningful to so many people. Thank you, too, for holding successful fundraisers and providing grants to departments and scholarships to employees. We are all so lucky to have you!

For all of your time, effort and hard work, please accept our heartfelt thanks and appreciation from the hospital, its leaders, the staff and me. You are truly a blessing to Emory Johns Creek Hospital and the entire community.

Warm Regards,

Kathryn Albright

As we enter the season of giving thanks, we wanted to send a note of heartfelt appreciation to all of you for donating your time and talent to Emory Johns Creek Hospital. Since we had to postpone our Spring Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon twice due to COVID-19, we wanted to acknowledge those volunteers who have reached milestones in their service hours. For those of you who are still volunteering with us, it is an honor to recognize all of you for your achievements. You play an integral role in enhancing the patient and family experience at Emory Johns Creek, and we can’t thank you enough for your loyalty and for your willingness to adapt to the new world we now live in.

Important information about the Auxiliary Scholarship program:
I would like to cover our EJCHA scholarship that is now available to employees and their immediate family members, plus Auxilians and their immediate family members seeking a degree in a medical field. Complete details of eligibility requirements can be found on our website. If you, as a member of our Auxiliary, has a family member working toward a medical degree, please check this out. We would very much like to support your eligible family members.

The second scholarship we offer is the Advanced Skills Scholarship. This is available to employees seeking to enhance their skills that would also benefit the department in which they work. This scholarship will not cover an employee seeking a higher degree, but in that case, they might be eligible for the EJCHA scholarship.

Since the second year the Auxiliary has been in existence, we have awarded over $200,000 in scholarship dollars. That is something the Auxiliary should be immensely proud of!

A Glimmer of Hope for Coronavirus Patients

Emory University is the largest National Institutes of Health (NIH) site for the clinical trial of the antiviral drug, Remdesivir. With promising results, the study shows use of this drug can slow the virus from spreading and patients who received Remdesivir recovered 31% faster.

Dr. Aneesh Mehta 99C 06MR 09FM, with the Emory Vaccine Center and Emory University School of Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease, will share findings on this important study and discuss the next steps in analyzing this and other antiviral drugs used to treat patients.

At Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital, recovered #COVID19 patients are being celebrated at discharge by all staff with a hospital-wide announcement called a "Code Rocky." Here, we cheer for an 88-year-old patient who was in the hospital for over a month and is now going home. If you’re humming the iconic theme song … we are too! 💪
