A Chiropractor who is very close to a member of the Windward family had a stroke and his life was suddenly turned upside down. We are sharing because the Windward Animal Hospital family has always been so support and we hope that you can support Dr Tim at his moment of need. This is such a horrific thing that has happened to him. Way too young to be affected like this.
Hi, my name is Sandy Annis, and I am the wife of Dr. Tim Annis of Dawsonville, Georgia. Tim suffe⌠Sandy Annis needs your support for Dr Tim Annis and family
Call us if you are concerned that your snake is impacted. Sometimes, not all the time, is can be avoided.
Dehydration often leads to constipation. The humidity of the tank can also cause issues. Some species vary will need higher humidity than others. Lastly, making sure that your snake is eating the right type of food and the correct amount helps. If they overeat their intestine may become too full and therefore prone to impaction.
As you know, and can imagine, we never post politically motivated posts. On this one we will make an exception.
The President signed. A bill that pertained to animals during emergencies. It was worthy enough to make the exception.

Please do not call the office if there are no available time slots. Either Schedule an annual exam appointment or keep checking the website for more slots. We will continue to arrange more days as time goes on.
Please note we are a small facility trying to coordinate this alone. This is not a government effort. This is just our staff working together to get as many rabbits vaccinated as we can manage.
-----> IMPORTANT FAQ:
Q: WHAT IS THE VACCINE?
A: -Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Vaccine. For more specifics on the disease click here: http://agr.georgia.gov/.../RHDV-MASTER-Frequently-Asked...
Q: HOW MUCH IS THE VACCINE WITHOUT THE ANNUAL EXAM?
A: $172: What is mandated to be included in the vaccine process and incorporated into the cost is the Exam $60, Microchip $50, Vaccine $42 & Submission & filing of State Required Documentation $20. Our State REQUIRES more than other States in order to import the vaccines. We must adhere to strict guidelines when it comes to the importation, tracking & administering these vaccines.
Q: WHAT IF MY RABBIT IS ALREADY CHIPPED?
A: Great question - If it is a recognizable chip on the universal reader than you do not need another microchip. Then the vaccine will be only $122 for your microchipped rabbit. Yay!
Q: WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY HAD OUR ANNUAL EXAM WITH WINDWARD ANIMAL HOSPITAL?
A: Call our office. You can schedule any other "paid service" and tell them you also need the vaccine. Obviously we want to take care of our patients! : )
Q: Can I make an appointment to get the vaccine?
A: If you want an Rabbit Annual Exam which includes: Exam, Anesthesia, Teeth Clipping, Bloodwork, Microchip, Vaccine, Documents, F***l, Revolution - YES YOU CAN SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT.
Q: What if I only want the Vaccine?
A: Go to our website and click on the sidebar where the vaccine image is and grab a spot. They are 1st Come - 1st Serve. If you do not see any availability DO NOT CALL THE OFFICE, Keep checking back to the website. More dates will be posted regularly.
Q: Do I have to be a Georgia Resident?
A: Yes! You have to be a Georgia Resident.
Q: WHY IS THE PRICE $172 (EXAM, MICROCHIPPING, VACCINE & DOCUMENT PROCESSING)?
A: Because of the manpower to navigate the process of getting approval for the vaccine to be imported to our office, the hours spent jumping through every hoop required to be able to provide the vaccines, the outright costs for the advance purchase of so many vaccines to help the rabbit community. We have to charge for our time and effort. We have dedicated ourselves to the rabbit community to make a difference.
Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you! Each spot is saved per rabbit NOT per owner. We do ask that what ever time slot you pick please arrive within the first half of the hour. If you have any questions, please call the clinic at 770-569-7298. Costs: (...

Please remember - if it is too hot for us it is too hot for them. â¤ď¸
Today is an extremely hot day for most of the United States, especially here in Georgia, where we are under a heat advisory with temperatures reaching above 100 degrees Fahrenheit! Itâs a great time to remind everyone that it is extremely dangerous to leave your pet in the car, even for a couple of minutes, during this time of year. Guinea pigs have no sweat glands and are at high risk of heatstroke when temperatures reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit and above. Heatstroke can be fatal to guinea pigs as well as other pets and all it can take is a few minutes to lose a beloved pet! As the graphic shows, even in cooler temperatures outside it does not take long for your car to become too hot. So please keep this in mind when planning travel and errands and make sure you have a plan so your pet never has to remain in the car!

In guinea pigs, digestive problems are very common, and the most common digestive illness is GI Stasis (Gastrointestinal Stasis). A quarter of the guinea pig population will get Stasis in their life time. This can cause weight loss, swelling or bloating, sudden life-threatening conditions, and kidney failure if it goes unrecognized and untreated.
Gastrointestinal stasis simply means that the water and food can not pass through the intestine at its normal rate because of the muscles that normally contract to push food through the intestines has stopped or slowed down. That will cause severe digestive problems. Often it is a poor diet, dehydration, stress, or an essential sickness can be the cause.
YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR GUINEA PIG TO GO 24 HOURS WITHOUT EATING, DRINKING AND POOPING! Just call us to discuss if you are concerned.
SIGNS of Gastrointestinal Stasis are:
1. Sitting Crouched or Huddled Over (stomach pain).
2. Teeth grinding is a common sign of pain in Pigs.
3. LOUD Stomach Gurgling: In guinea pigs, gentle gurgling is normal. You don't want it to be too loud or even non-existent.
4. Inactivity: the key is âdifferentâ or off-behavior than normal.
5. Constipation: If the amount of f***l pellets is limited or stopped.
6. Excessive, Watery, or Mushy stools.
7. Not eating & drinking as normal.
Simply call us and schedule a check-up. We would rather you be over-cautious than unaware.

Letâs talk about dogâs butts for just a moment.
Dogs have two small oval-shaped sacs on either side of the a**s called a**l glands a.k.a. scent glands.
The glands purpose is to produce a fluid which has a strong fishy odor which is unique to each dog. A minuscule amount of this fluid is excreted to mark territory. However, if a dog gets stressed or scared it can accidentally express the glands.
These sacs express (excrete) this fluid typically when the dog has a bowel movement.
A poor diet or an inherited biological problem can cause the sac to malfunction. And if the sac doesnât empty as designed, it can become impacted and make bowel movements difficult, even painful.
Many dogs will go their entire life without any issues with their a**l glands. However, it isnât uncommon for the glands to become full, impacted, or infected.
When signs of a**l gland issues occur, simply call usâŚ. We can express them. Then we can teach you how to express them and make changes to help prevent this from happening again.
Signs to look out for:
⢠Scooting their rear on the floor
⢠Excessive licking or itching their rear
⢠Straining or difficulty while pooping
Common causes of A**l Gland Problems:
⢠Insufficient dietary fiber
⢠Chronic skin dermatitis
⢠Obesity
⢠Chronic soft stool
⢠Food and/or environmental allergies
⢠Genetics: While itâs more common for smaller breeds to develop issues with their a**l gland no breed is immune.
- Treatment and Prevention -
If your dog is displaying signs and symptoms of an a**l gland problem, schedule an appointment to have us see your pet. We can manually express the glands and possibly, if needed, prescribe an antibiotic or supplement if there is an infection.
As for prevention, discuss a diet plan for your dog with us. We commonly recommend fish oil supplements and suggest increasing the amount of dietary fiber in your dogâs diet. This could be include adding canned pure pumpkin, cooked fresh pumpkin, and ground bran or flaxseed are a common diet additions. Read the label on the canned pumpkin to ensure it is pure pumpkin only with no added fake sugars. ( not pumpkin pie filling).
As always we are just a phone call or visit away.
