🚨Lengthy post warning‼️ Let's just start by saying this is one of the many reasons I love owning Busy As A Bee KVL --the people I connect with and the stories I get to hear and share! 🐝🐝🐝. A gentleman walked into the shop on Tammy's shift last week and I just happened to be in, dropping something off. Of course we all got to talking and he asked if I was from the area of which, of course I replied I was. We started doing all the names of all the families and of all the people we know, and he just stopped and looked at me when I said my maiden name was Whitley. He asked if I knew Mrs. Whitley. Well, that could be my mom or my grandmother or any of my grandfather's brothers wives. 🧐 After asking him why ❓he let me know that he was the former athletic director at East Forsyth high school and during some of their Hall of Fame and historical meetings. they continue to ask if anyone knows the first name of Mrs. Whitley who won the "Greatest Fan of All" award at East Forsyth high school in the 80s. I looked at him and said "yes, sir that's my granny"! He was so tickled and we got to reminiscing over all the things and what a unique woman she was. She would walk or be dropped off at the games by my grandfather and according to the article did not miss but two games and that was because they moved the location. She did not discriminate. She loved both men's and women's basketball. As a player herself coming out of the depression it was a place--I'm sure of great enjoyment and distraction. Please enjoy the photos and articles attached that my dad and mom found, and I have shared with Mr. White. You never know how your story is going to intertw**e with others in our community and around the world, which is one of the only reasons to be holding on to this big old great ball of energy and LOVE 💗 🌎
