Birthday Bash with Jim Vollmer entertaining us with song and story.
Jim sang along and Martha enjoyed a polka with me (Carol).
Birthday Bash at KMG. Floyd was the only birthday in July at our unit. Those in attendance enjoyed The Mellow Fellows and sang along. Videos coming!
My coworker, Carol, posted that last item with all those wonderful pictures of my retirement party. THIS post is to publicly THANK some very special people AND all of YOU who gave me all of those special well wishes! I truly appreciated & read each one!
First of all, let me tell you that it has been a privilege to work at KMG and to work for some of the BEST people I know, Tina & Mark Thull. Because of their leadership, KMG is a very special place to work AND live (for our residents). Which makes this parting (tho not 100%, because I will be popping in once in a while 🙂) such a hard thing to do. Our residents ARE like family to us. During these past difficult months when you have had to be separated, know that we have been working EXTRA hard to provide emotional support & loving care to your family members. Our staff "ROCKS" at what they do! From Mgmt, Angie, Tom, Jenny & Katie Thull, to caregivers, to dietary, maintenance & housekeeping, we've all worked extra hard as a team during this crisis.
But I especially want to thank these TWO very special people, without whom these last months (& the years before) would have been impossible to do this job that I've loved so much. Carol & Linda are two very special, selfless, caring, spiritual people who ALWAYS put everyone else first. No matter the difficulties or even tragedies going on in their lives, they were THERE for me AND our residents. THANK YOU BOTH!
And thank you for letting me ramble on here. Since it will be my LAST post, I wanted to be able to say all this AND thank everyone! God Bless you all!
*please excuse the masks, safety first 🙂
Today we honored Donna Gajewski, one of our Activity Directors who is retiring on Monday. Our staff and residents celebrated the memories shared over the past six years with her. Cake and punch was enjoyed by the majority of the residents. We maintained the segregation of CBRF and RCAC residents. If any of our families of past or present residents would like to send well wishes to Donna, feel free to respond here.
Red white and blue participants. Happy Fourth of July.
Yesterday the family of Bernice S. treated the staff of KMG to a wonderful luncheon of subs (& all the fixins!) from Firehouse Subs in West Bend. They said this was to celebrate Bernice's ONE YEAR anniversary here at KMG and to thank all of us for the loving care we've given their mom.
But what they need to know is how blessed and honored we are to have Bernice as part of our KNG family. Our residents (all of them) are very SPECIAL to all of us and we truly are "family".
Thank you Bernice, Sharon, Tom, Max, Mary, Cory, Carol, Tom & family for your thoughtful gift!
(P.S. Bernice is a good sport for letting us take this picture 😄)
Today we did a craft while others played a card game all spread out.
We say hello!
Second outdoor concert... Beth Leinss (sounds like Heintz). Fantastic clear voice pouring out show tunes and sing along songs. Everyone enjoyed it. Nice warm weather, a cold beverage of choice and being able to see friends (6 feet apart).
Outdoor Birthday Bash with The Singing Farmers. Needed protection from the wind.
Updated Facility Practices Related to Covid-19 (6.10.20)
What a fun day... Memories in the Making, Family visit on patio with a puppy. (he visited and brought smiles), friends on the patio after our Life on the Farm Trivia game. Then a visit with Bernie, her son in law and Max. Check them out!
So glad for visits on the patio... We took a photo with and without masks! New resident enjoyed reading our well wishes posted around the lawns surrounding KMG. Staff Austin posed with his super hero shirt. (It sure fits him with all he does).
These beautiful days have been enjoyed by a lot of the residents. Outdoor Bible Study, prayer for those affected by the virus, helping prep for a craft and reading cards from people in the community and finishing up planting flowers and enjoying family visits on the patio with prescribed six foot social distancing. Memories in the Making class was held, too.
Want to help the environment AND KMG activities? Bring us your aluminum cans for recycling. 🙂
All monies used for Bingo prizes & other activities for our residents.
Rinsed cans appreciated, but ALL aluminum cans welcome!
Call 262-626-4990 when dropping off or just label CANS and set near front door.
Thank you!! 😁
Bet you didn't know that today, May 29th, is National Paperclip Day??
Haha...me neither. But when I read that it was today, I wondered, "What kind of craft could we make with paperclips?" I found LOTS of pretty book markers. But none of our residents are book readers anymore. So, then I thought "What ELSE could we do with paperclips?" And then FISHING came into my head! So I found a wooden dowel, some string, a couple paper clips, some paper FISH with magnets glued on them. And our "fishing" game was born. We had a bunch of fun "catching" fish! Each color was worth so many points. (It's harder than you think! Haha) We even talked Matt, our chef, into trying it. He thought it was fun & said, "I could do this at home!"
Our winner was Ray G. (not pictured because he was our first contestant & left before I could get my camera) We WILL be "fishing" again soon!
Bernice is our resident jigsaw puzzle master and she just finished this 500 piece M&M puzzle! Congrats, Bernice! A job well done
1:1 Arts & Crafts class today. We made "gem adorned" old fashioned silhouettes. I LOVE how creative our residents were. They did need help with some of the littlest beads, but the designs were mostly theirs! Look how proud they are of their creations!
These turned out SO PRETTY, that we are going to frame them & put them on their walls!
Sunny day on the patio planting pansies. (Tongue twister)
A special Thank You to Bits N Pieces Floral in West Bend for the donation of beautiful flowers. The residents really liked the treat. This is one of three batches of flowers we distributed throughout the units.
Our dedicated staff of caregivers also need some "brain" stimulation during this time of quarantine, so we offered a trivia "brain buster" for them. Caregiver with the most correct answers won a gift certificate to Coffee Corner. Congrats to Kam Vey for winning this trivia teaser!
Discovered an online coloring app. Had fun teaching one of our residents, Bernice, how to do it. She enjoyed it so much she called her daughter and said, "honey, you need to get me a COMPUTER!!" haha!
Three more residents that didnt have videos taken, so weren't on original video. Wanted them to get their "kudos" too! 😁
Friday Super Heros! Social Distancing Photo from Laura and Dori!!
Lots of nice comments about the shirts. Thanks KMG!
Another wedding anniversary. Congratulations Richard and Carol on 53 years of marriage! Their family supplied music by Ralph Thull of The Good Time Dutchmen and beautiful cookies for residents of both buildings. Social distancing with marked chair locations, masks and family and friends who celebrated with them at a distance. Fun first entertainment in two months! Thanks for letting us celebrate with you all.
Some RCAC "crafty" ladies enjoyed making a colorful spring craft.
A few more Mother's Day bouquets to share. There were window visits and cards & virtual hugs & kisses too! Our mothers were showered with lots of love for sure!
Found a few moms who wanted to share a photo of beautiful floral gifts they received. They came from adult children who live quite a distance from KMG.
A little "treat" for our mothers and those that are like mothers. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers everywhere!
What a fun Friday. Skyping with family and then enjoying a Root Beer Float as an early Mother's Day treat.
Today some staff also sported our new work tee shirts. Thanks KMG!
Received a "shipment" of YUMMY Girl Scout cookies today, delivered by Farmington Elementary Girl Scout Troop 8438 and courtesy of Erin Enterprises, who purchased them from the troop and donated to KMG.
THANK YOU Erin Enterprises for all the cookies & Troop 8438 for delivering them & the lovely card & poster! Our residents will certainly enjoy them over the next couple of weeks!
Today was "Frosty Friday" & that meant ROOT BEER FLOATS all around. Unfortunately, they enjoyed them SO much that by the time I came back to take some pics, they were DONE!! Haha! Everyone said they were DELICIOUS! 🙂
Bernice S was our WINNER for our room "Let's Make a Deal" game, where they had to pick 10 items from their rooms & put in a plastic bag. For EACH item they had in their bag that MATCHED my MASTER list, they gained points. Resident with the most points won! Congrats, Bernice! Prize was a take out lunch of their choice. Bernice chose a perch dinner from King Pin Lanes in campbellsport. She said it was "Yummy!"
